Sorry this is not an answer but i REALLY REALLY want to know the answer as well. In my situation, my boyfriend is from Brazil and his lawyer told him that there is nothing he can do because he came after Sept 11, 2001. So he just has to hold on until new laws are put in place. This is just what I've been told by the Immigration lawyer. But it might be different in every state. I am from Massachusetts. It depends on when your boyfriend came here and how he came here. Sometimes getting his employer to sign working permits is a start. He might be able to at the least start the process of getting his papers like Social Security number etc... Hope this helps a little!! And good luck =)
