Most likely it is coming in throgh the trunk seal. On a dry day wash your car and then open the trunk and see if the trunk seal is wet and there is a trail of water entering the trunk
you dont its just for show evidently
it should be in the trunk, you will see a hole in the rear trunk panel where the rest button is located.
usually in the trunk, some are in the passenger right side kick panel. some galants do not even have one.Ex. 1995 galant s does not have one.
With a metal hanger ..... pull trunk latch ....go through the trunk/armrest opening.... the rest is up to u...... note hanger will mess up weather strip and or paint
If the back of the rear seat can be removed, it may be possible to enter the trunk and open it. If not, then the lock will either have to be picked or drilled out.
Open your trunk and find the wires that go to the bulb over the license plate. Twist the base to remove the light.
Well, honey, changing a brake light bulb on a Mitsubishi Galant is as easy as pie. Just pop open the trunk, locate the back of the light assembly, twist out the old bulb, pop in the new one, and voila! You'll be lighting up the road like a Christmas tree in no time. Just remember to test it out before you hit the road, unless you're into getting pulled over by the fashion police.
You open the trunk and remove the plastic wingnut screw on the backside of the tail light and replace the bulb and put the nut back on...very easily done without tools...
in the trunk
if your talking about the gas-tank fill door-the release lever is located just above the trunk release lever (on most models with interior fill-door release). it is marked with a "gas pump with hose".
You can access the bulb for the license plate illuminator by popping the trunk and looking directly behind the plate holder on the trunk-lid itself. There should be a swist type quick release plug that holds the bulb in place. (similar to the third tail-light on models without the spoiler)
I just had to change mine yesterday 4/12/08 you have to open your trunk, look right under where the 3rd brake light is to find wire running to it, twist to pop it out. Hope this helps. B.C.
