Answer: Old immigrants: Immigrants, who came to the United States from Northern or Western Europe (i.e. Britain, France, Germany or Scandinavia) during first wave of Immigration following American Independence are known as old immigrants. They basically came here for employment and land. New Immigrants:Immigrants, who came to the United States from Eastern Europe and other parts of the world (ex: Russia, Italy, Ireland, Poland, etc.) after the civil war to make a new start or live an American dream are known as new immigrants.
