As of the U.S. Census Bureau's 2005-2007 American Community Survey 3-year estimates, of the approximately 2 million Cubans residing in the United States, about 1.29 million are distributed between: California (85,585), Florida (1,051,465), New Jersey (78,962), and New York (69,076). As for the U.S. Census Bureau's 2000 Census, only four states lacked data for this demographic: North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming - probably because there were less than 100 Cubans in the entire state. Vermont had the lowest demographic (308), and Puerto Rico, as a commonwealth of the U.S., reported some 20,000 Cuban inhabitants.

How would a large population of native Americans in a Western State in 1869 have affected that states representation in Congress?

In 1869, a large population of Native Americans in a Western state would have influenced that state's representation in Congress primarily through the apportionment of congressional seats based on population. However, due to the lack of citizenship rights for Native Americans at the time, they would not have been counted in the census for representation purposes. This exclusion would have resulted in lower congressional representation for the state compared to if Native Americans had been counted as part of the population. Additionally, the political dynamics of the state could have been affected by Native American interests and governance, potentially influencing local and national policies.
