You are probably referring to Amelia Earhart. During the 1920s, there were a number of women aviators who were setting records, but Amelia became the first woman aviator (or "aviatrix" as they were then called) to make a solo flight across the Atlantic, just like Charles Lindbergh had done in 1927. Amelia completed her transatlantic flight in May 1932. (She had been part of a three-person team that crossed the Atlantic in 1928, but this was her first successful solo trip.)
Amelia Earhart was the first woman to cross the Atlantic ocean solo.
This was Amelia Earhart. She became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic in a Lockheed Vega 5b, taking off from Harbour Grace in Newfoundland on 20th May 1932. She landed in Culmore, in Co. Derry, Northern Ireland just over 14 hours later. For her feat, she was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross by the US Senate.
She did make a transatlantic flight with two male colleagues four years earlier, accompanying pilot Wilmer Stultz and engineer Louis Gordon on a flight from Newfoundland to Wales in the huge triple-engined Fokker F.VIIIb 'Friendship II' - however, at the time she held no instrument rating, and as most of the flight was at night-time she was just a passenger on the trip.
Earhart went missing on 2nd July 1937, whilst attempting to fly from California to Hawaii with her navigator and co-pilot Fred Noonan. Their 'plane, a twin-engined Lockheed Electra, disappeared somewhere near the Nukumaru islands South West of Hawaii. Neither they nor their aircraft have ever been recovered.

It depends on the mode of travel and the capacity of transportation. For example, a solo traveler can go around the world on a plane. In contrast, a group that decides to travel by car or on foot would need multiple people to take turns driving or corresponding to the physical demands of the journey.
In the middle ages, very few people sailed around the world due to limited technology and navigation knowledge. One of the notable explorers was Marco Polo, who traversed Asia in the late 13th century. Another was Ibn Battuta, an Islamic scholar who journeyed extensively through the Middle East, Africa, and Asia during the 14th century.
Charles Darwin was 22 years old when he set sail as a ship naturalist on the HMS Beagle in 1831.
Approximately 0.1% of Americans participate in sailing activities. In comparison, countries with a strong sailing culture, such as Australia or New Zealand, may have a higher percentage of their population engaged in sailing. However, globally, sailing is not a mainstream recreational activity and is more popular in coastal regions or countries with a maritime tradition.
The dolphin senior was like a sunfish, but an inch or two longer and wider. Two adults can sail her. Three might sink her.... I had one as a kid, and LOVED it. Too bad they don't make them any more. More powerful than a sunfish.
