How to change thermostat on 2003 Aztec?

first drain coolant, then remove two electrical plugs on air filter hose connected to throttle body. then remove same hose. remove metal coolant line that goes in front of thermostat housing, remove throttle body. Then you have good access to thermostat housing. You do NOT have to remove the exhaust crossover pipe, as I have read in many places. remove the nearest bolt on the thermostat housing, the far est bolt is a little harder to get to, because of the exhaust pipe. loosen the far bolt just enough to slide out the thermostat housing, there is a slit on the bolt hole on the housing so you don't have to remove the bolt completely. then clean mating surfaces and reinstall in reverse order, if the gasket on the throttle body tears, a new one is only 2.00 dollars. I just had mine done and I got to watch. I hope this helps someone.
