What did Aztec do?

They made sacrifices to their Gods on top of big pyramids.

They did much more than that! This is from my own essay for history class:

They built many things such as aqueducts, pyramids, temples, causeways, chinampas, dikes, etc. Since Tenochtitlan, their first city, was made on marshland, they had trouble building in the early days of the civilization. But then a discovery was made. If they anchored their buildings in the ground, using foundations made of wood, and they were able to build easily on this.

Much of their architecture was based off of Teotihliacan, a city farther away which was believed to be the place of the gods. It was often referred to as "the pyramid of the sun" because it was supposed that there the sun was born, even though it was already in ruins when they got there.

Their aqueducts were very important to their Daily Life. It gave them clean water, for a start. The aqueducts generally wound around a particular mountain, going off in small waterfalls to water the crops, and all ending up with the king's bath, in which he could look over the countryside and the people working on it. Some aqueducts about be used to bring clean water up to and over 3 miles, and there were public fountains, as well as water being brought to the workers by servants. Using something called a dike; they protected their clean, fresh water from the salt water. Nezahualcoyotl designed this. The dike had sleuth gates, so they could open and close it when they pleased, letting out water if it was getting flooded. In fact, they built this dike after a great flood had just happened, so they needed to be worried.

Another very important part of their daily life was their causeways. These were built on the water, with wooden frames stuck into the ground and the filled it up with earth and rock. This way, the people could walk freely across water to bring riches and goods to the more powerful city-states. Sort of an Aztec version of FedEx, except, actually faster! Their postal service was quicker than ours now today! And keep in mind they built these causeways by human labor alone, and they traveled through them the same way, by human ways.

A good example of a temple is temple major. Temples were used for sacrifices often, and some temples are even depicted in art with blood coming out of the walls.

Something AMAZING that these people made are called chinampas. These are artificial floating gardens, made out of notched sticks and twigs and such. They were made by human labor ALONE and are so successful that they produce 7 crops a year which is not a problem. They only take about eight days to make and were connected to the city by canals. This way, they could extend their crops easily and would have no problem getting food for those 15 million mouths!

There is MUCH MUCH more to talk about!!!! Please ask about specific things not a whole culture because its really complicated to talk about a whole, complex culture like the Aztecs.

Are the Chichimec a part of the Aztecs?

Yes! The Chichimec's were what the tribes in the valley of Mexico called nomadic people of the north. The name Chichimec means "people of dog lineage". The Chichimeca eventually came down to the valley of Mexico and after being established they became known as the Chichimeca-tolteca people because there bloodline was now mixed with the Toltec people through arranged marriages and alliances. Then they became known as the Mexica as time when on, and lastly the became known as the Aztec's because after winning a battle they would proclaim themselves Aztecs from their origin land Aztlan the place where the seven mystical caves existed with seven tribes. Aztlan was a place built on an Island in the middle of a lake, so it was amazing that 200 years after leaving Aztlan in search of their promise land, they find another small island in the middle of a lake and decide to call it home this place was in the middle of Texcoco Lake the Aztec's called their new home Tenochtitlan.

The kind of games that Aztec played was Ulama and patolli. Ulama was the popular game in Aztec. Ulama was played by three (3) or more people. How to play ulama is very dangerous. People would wear shields on their arms, stomach, and legs. The people had to score goals by hitting the solid, hard, rock into a hole that's hanged at the side of the wall. You weren't allowed to use your hands, head, or feet. Sometimes when someone wins, they would have to do a sacrifice.

Aztec gold is it white gold?

All pure gold is a yellowish color.

Alterations of gold (white, red, green, blue) are from the additions of other metal to gold.

For instance, to make red gold (rose gold), a small amount of copper is added to impart some of copper's orangey-reddness to the final product.

Under what ruler did the Aztecs reach their greatest power?

The answer to this is not clear-cut, as it depends how you define 'greatest power'. Nevertheless, we could say that the Aztec empire was at it's largest just before the Spanish conquest. Ahuitzotl was the eighth Aztec ruler, and under his reign (from 1486 to 1502), he more than doubled the area of land controlled by the Aztecs. His successor, Moctezuma II also made substantial land gains and, in fact, the empire reached it's maximal size under his rule. Moctezuma's rain is, however, coloured by his defeat at the hands of the Spanish, and is therefore not generally regarded as the greatest Aztec ruler.
