What does fire suppression by humans do?
Fire Suppression through human actions can and will change the species composition within the biological communities, which more simply put means, that the group of interdependent organisms living and interacting with each other in these habitats, which have molded their lifestyles to living in an environment where fires occur will now have to change the way they live.
For example:
Millipedes (Diplopoda- Julidae) are normally the first species to flourish after a fire because they can consume some material that has been burned, whereas other species would see that as waste. Because the millipede numbers are so high there predators follow and so on and so forth. It can almost be looked at as a reset for that environment.
