Where does the chess promotion piece go?
You can promote a Pawn to any other piece, except the King, that you choose.
You do not have to have lost the piece you promote the Pawn to. It's therefore theoretically possible for a player to have nine Queens (the original, plus eight promoted pawns).
However, you may not give control of it to your opponent; it remains your piece.

Why black and white in chess board?
I suppose the presence of Red and White Queens in Through the Looking Glass suggests that sets once were in those colors, but maybe it's just that Lewis Carroll happened to have a red and white set circa 1860. I have two nice sets from around 1950, one Staunton and one Florentine, and they are black and white. Well, the blacks are jet black, but the Staunton white is stained blond wood and the Florentine white wants to look like ivory.
On the other hand, I think checkers are still predominantly red and white, and I see you can buy red and white chess sets, as well as green, multicolor, crystal, metal, and other colors that would drive chess players crazy. (Most players wouldn't like my Florentine set with its 11th century replica statues.) Maybe the best answer is simply that Staunton black and white chess sets are most recognizable and appealing to the eye.
What color is the back right corner on a chess board?
When you start a chess game, the bottom right corner SHOULD be a light square. If it is dark, you're actually playing on a checker board, so you'll need to rotate the board 90 degrees. Remember the saying in chess: 'white on right, queen on colour.' A checkerboard is the opposite of a chessboard. The lower right hand square is a dark square.
In chess if only their king is on the board?
There are only two outcomes: you win or you draw.
In some play, it is considered a draw if you have not been able to mate within 30 moves or if the same set of moves is repeated 5 times.
Can queens jump over things at chess?
The Queen may not move as you described because it is an illegal move - only the knight has the power to jump other chess pieces . ~ See related link below for more information as to how the Queen moves .
A:In regular chess, the Queen cannot jump any pieces at all. (The only piece which can jump an intervening pawn or piece is the Knight.)*
However, there are versions of chess with alternate rules, known collectively as fairy chess, in which the Queen might be granted Knight-like features, including the ability to jump over a piece rather than capturing it.
*And the King, while castling, can in a sense be said to have jumped over the Rook.
Can your king kill other pieces in chess?
Yes, your king is able to capture other pieces only if they are unprotected by your opponent.
Can another piece kill to get the king out of check?

How many moves possible in chess?
From the starting position there are 20 possible moves (2 for each of 8 pawns and 2 for each knight). From there the number of permutations increases dramatically. Information theorist Claude Shannon estimated the total number of positions at 10^43, and with there being an average of 35 moves for each side per position, this makes the game tree in the order of 10^123.
This is only positions, though. Since completely different potential move orders can create the same position, this makes the number of iterations much higher. After 1 (2 ply) move by each side, the number is 400 possible move combinations (20 * 20 400). After just 4 moves(8 ply), the number is over 197,000. At 10 moves (20 ply) it grows to 8.350e+28. The number of distinct games, therefore, is unbounded and grows exponentially assuming no threefold repetition and no 50 move rule. Including these two conditions limits the upper possibility at around 366 ply (or 183 full moves).

The king may capture any of the opponent's pieces. as long as the move is a legal move. Aside from that it is the target of each of the opponentto checkmate it and win.

How many pieces can you choose from for the first play in chess?
The king, in chess, can only move two spaces when performing a move called "a Castle". This can only be performed when there is no piece between the King and closest Rook (so the bishop and the knight have advanced along the board), and neither the king nor the closest rook have been previously moved. If that is the case, then you can move the king two spaces toward the rook, and place the rook to the space immediately to the left of the King. This is called a Castle, and this is the ONLY time the king can move two space during the duration of one game. Outside of this move, the king only moves one space at a time.

Why should you do the castle move in chess?
You should castle in order to protect your king by tucking it into the corner behind a wall of pawns with the rook guarding the entrance. A king left in the center of the board during the game will soon become target practice for the other player. In addition it links up the two rooks or at least prepares them to be linked up. Two rooks on the same rank or same file make a powerful combination of pieces both for offense and defense. Castle early if you can unless for strategic reasons you want to keep your opponent guessing as to whether you will castle kingside or queenside. Some players like to let the opponent mount an attack on one side, then castle to the other side.
