Is it the landlord's responsibility to get rid of cockroach infestation?

First, this responsibility can be different in each jurisdiction. However, most jurisdictions have some stipulation in their version of the residential tenancies act that the landlord is responsible for treating all infestations within an apartment. Now the next part is where it gets tricky. Where I live, it is the landlord's responosibility to treat the infested apartment; however, it is not the landlord's responsibility to pay for the treatment. The treatment costs can be billed to the tenant. The tenant is not usually charged for the treatment for the sake of good relations; however, this is at the discretion of the landlord. What is comes down to is that it is usually the landlords responsibility to have a professional treat the suite, but, depending on where you live, the tenant may be responsible for any charges related to the extermination.

If a cockroach is beheaded will it continue living until it starves to death?

Insects, cockroaches included, have a nervous system that is made up of a series of ganglia (bundles of neurons) all along the ventral nerve cord. Some are located in the abdomen, which innervate the genitalia, sensory structures like the cerci, and some organs; some ganglia are located in the thorax, which innervate muscles for the legs & wings; then there is the brain, which is located in the head, and is likewise nothing more than a series of fused ganglia and is responsible for processing sensory input from the antennae & eyes among other things. All of these ganglia running down the nerve cord through the body act as mini-brains & because each has separate functions, the removal of one or a few (such as what happens when the head is removed) only has the effect of limiting those functions that its tied to. So, a cockroach can live without its head because it still has the mini-brains in the rest of the body allowing it to still crawl around and the organs to function. The cockroach usually dies as a result of dehydration rather than as a direct result of the decapitation (because it can no longer drink water without its mouth parts located on the head...death by dehydration is much faster than death by starvation).

What is collateral gland in cockroach?

Collateral Glsnds are present in between the 3rd and 4th abdomenal segments of FEMALE COCKROACH. These glands are concerned for the production of a secretion forming the egg-case of ootheca.

Why are cockroaches brains in their body and not their head?

The cockroach's brain is in its rear end, so if it loses its head it will be able to survive. It may seem strange that a cockroach could lose its head and still live, but that's the reason why.

Why kerosene is used to kill cockroaches?

Kerosene is used to kill cockroaches due to its potent toxic properties and ability to disrupt their respiratory systems. When cockroaches come into contact with kerosene, it can suffocate them by blocking their spiracles, which are openings that allow them to breathe. Additionally, kerosene acts as a solvent, breaking down the protective waxy layer on their exoskeletons, leading to dehydration. However, using kerosene poses health risks to humans and the environment, making safer alternatives preferable for pest control.

Why can a cockroach last a month without eating?

Many insects can actually last much longer than that without eating. For example, the common bed bug can go nearly a year without eating. They can do this because their metabolism slows when faced with periods without food and they are able to draw off of the large stores of fat in their body to sustain them until they come across a food source once again.
