And do they need you to send a fee to get the money? Or do they need you to send them all your financial information to get the money?

When next you talk to them, tell them that you will be happy to receive the funds, and if they'll tell you what bank has those funds, you'll have your bank call them and arrange the transfer - so as to save them time and trouble, and avoid there being any "fees".

When they won't do it that very standard way, and insist on a fee from you or financial info from you, then you'll know it's a scam.
