How has North America became so rich and developed continent?
There are several reasons.
1. The mentality of the early immigrant was a major factor in the massive economic power of America. There were two kinds of immigrants. Those that came as part of a military expedition and those that came on their on accord. The latter have had the greatest influence in the prosperity of the Americas. People from all over the world flocked to the Americas knowing that life would be challenging and hoping that opportunities not found in their home land would be possible. With so many of the worlds most ambitious people gathering in one place prosperity was inevitable.
2. The same mentality that brought immigrants here was also the source of great conflict and a survival of the fittest and even more so a survival of smartest way of life. Those that did not use great ingenuity often became grunts to those that did. This includes factories, and slave plantations. Some would say that being free in America's early work force was a step down from a life of slavery. There were no safety nets. No government welfare. No government healthcare. No government retirement programs. Just a free enterprise, ingenuity, and a massive workforce motivated by survival and the dream of freedom and prosperity. Unlike today's world early Americans did not spend there children's future, to do so was not even an option at least not a government option.
3. Not everyone became wealthy. Most of those that did, did so mostly on the labor of others. As humanity advanced, the wealthy found themselves in need of a more educated workforce. This is when and why the public school system came to be. Those that became educated would be elevated to perform more valuable jobs and services in society. Eventually making the USA the most educated and advanced society on the planet and maintained for many generations.
4. There have always been those in need of extra money and there have always been those that are willing to lend it at a price. In the late 20th century the U.S. Economy was at it's peak. Where was all of this new wealth coming from? Unfortunately it was coming from the early 21st century. The country had been spending it's future for decades. Yes the government did it's share. However it was the average citizen charging up credit cards and purchasing large homes and new cars that massively stimulated the economy. I use the word stimulation with great intention. When a drug stimulates the body 2 things happen. First, the body is placed in an unnatural state that is unsustainable. Second, the body acquires an addictive craving. This is exactly what happens when an economy is stimulated unnaturally by over spending of what has not yet been earned. Why would an educated society do this to themselves?
5. This brings us to the current. Public education covers knowledge not intelligence. To do so would require such things as principles and morals. Things that schools say should be taught and enforced in the home. Unfortunately the home now days is rarely a place of education. Music, movies, and peers are what educate our society in modern times.
