Open the airway; check for signs of life / pulse for 45 seconds before administering CPR. Prevent further heat loss but don't re-warm prior to starting CPR. If no signs of life after 45 s, immediately start CPR.
What do adult and infant CPR have in common?
For both adult and child CPR with one rescuer, perform 30 compression to every 2 breaths. Also, you want to ensure that you are doing 100 repetitions per minute in both adult and child CPR. Perform reevaluations after every 2 minutes by checking the pulse of the victim and check for breathing.
Why do you define adult during CPR until age of 8 years not more?
For CPR an infant is birth to 1; child is 1 to 12; and an adult is over 12 years old. For the use of an AED, a child is defined as 1 to 8 or less than 55 pounds.

You may also contact the American Heart Association.

Chest compressions simulate a natural heartbeat, which pushes blood through the body, and rescue breaths simulate natural breathing, bringing oxygen into your lungs to transfer to the blood circulating the body.

It is due to the fact that the vital organs are more susceptible to damage from lack of oxygen in an infant or child than for an adult.
Why it is important to give early defibrillation?
To allow the heart to reset and resume normal sinus rhythm.
When an aed is analyzing on a pregnant woman will the aed pick up the fetus's heartbeat?
No, an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is designed to analyze the heart rhythm of the person it is applied to, not the fetus. It focuses on detecting life-threatening arrhythmias in the adult's heart. While the AED may pick up some electrical activity from the fetus, it is not equipped to interpret that data or provide any information about the fetal heartbeat. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of the pregnant woman and restore her heart function.
What are the conditions that must exist before performing CPR?
Unconciousness, no respiration and no pulse.
For the lay rescuer, the following conditions must exist before performing CPR:
Adult: Not breathing and no signs of life (no movement, no breathing).
Child / Infant: Not breathing and no pulse.
Next step when you find unresponsive victim who has agonal gasps?
Tip the head to open the airway. Check for signs of life (look, listen, feel for breathing & movement). Since agonal gasps fails the breathing criteria, you would immediately begin CPR for an adult.
Where are the AED pads placed on an adult?
There are several ways to figure this out, depending on the AED you are using.
Remember the saying, "white upper right, red to the ribs" which refers to the location on the victim; the leads to the pads are usually colored white & red.
Some pads have icons on them that show the location to be placed; i.e. one pad will show upper right on the chest and the other will show placement on the rib area on left side of chest on the victim.
It the leads are not colored, or there are no icons on the pads, then it doesn't matter which pad is placed on the upper right of the chest or lower left on the ribs.
An alternate placement, which has been shown to be marginally more effective, is one lead on the center of the chest and one on the back, just to the left of the spine, trying to avoid the scapula (shoulderblade). This provides a more direct route for the current to flow and (in some studies) has been shown to be more effective than the right upper chest/left lateral chest method.
Aed paddles, manual chest compressions
What is the most critical step in CPR In case of an emergency?

What should you do before applying the aed padS to the victim if they are wet?
Wipe them off with a dry towel or rag.
The statement is false. CPR should only begin if the patient has stopped breathing or if their heart has stopped beating. While it is likely that a choking victim has ceased breathing if they have lost consciousness, it is not an absolute indicator.
What is the recommended depth of chest compressions for an adult victim?
The recommended depth of chest compressions in adult CPR is 2 inches
