How are flags flown when displayed with a US flag flown at halfstaff?

Flag protocols differ only slightly around the world. The country that you are in at any given time should be displaying its national flag at the top of the pole, followed by the local or state/county flag then perhaps your company or personal flag. (There are some exceptions with certain Heads of State). Generally is the U.S. (and most countries) if the National Flag is at half mast, then affiliate flags will often be flown the same way (A friendly nation's flag at the local embassy may also do so as a mark of respect.) However, to save embarassment, most flag bearers/keepers will fly only that National flag at half mast and not display other flags nearby. Similarly, the U.S. might from time to time fly the National flag at half mast if an overseas H.O.S. dies due to some particular affliation between the countries (When Winston CHURCHILL died, the U.S. flag was half masted due to the particular bod of WWII and the fact that CHURHILL's mum was an American). Many corporations and even local government offices are unaware of flag protocols (this is the case around much of the world) and whilst they may remember to lower the National Flag, they'll forget about their corporate flag which should really be removed during the mourning period, or at least halfmasted on a (preferably) seperate flagpole. I see many people flying flags at inappropriate times, accidently flying them upside down (this is meant to be a signal of distress and for help), flying them back to front or at inappropriate heights to each other. Some flag protocols have changed around the world and in some countries thet are not lowered at sunset and re flown at daybreak. This is sometimes to to the fact that certain places have no dedicated flag bearer/keeper and the staff are engaged in emergency duties (Police, Fire, Ambos etc). Other places may not keep hours of sunrise/sunset in their business times. It is a bit of a pity really as it is one more 'old world' set of manners that is changing with modern times.
