The 13 stars stand for the 13 colonies

The flag of Sweden is a Gold cross with the vertical bar off centre (a Scandinavian Cross) on a blue background.

The flag was changed because Kentucky and Vermont were added as states.

Historically a vessel on the high seas flew the flag of its country of origin. In the 20th century, such countries as the US imposed laws on shipping companies such as paying fair wages and maintaining safe working conditions that ship owners were callous enough to ignore. In advertising, white is associated with coolness and cleanliness because it's the color of snow. You can use white to suggest simplicity in high-tech products. White is an appropriate color for charitable organizations; angels are usually imagined wearing white clothes. White is associated with hospitals, doctors, and sterility, so you can use white to suggest safety when promoting medical products. White is often associated with low weight, low-fat food, and dairy products.

The state flag of South Carolina was officially adopted in 1861. It has a white crescent and a white palmetto tree on a blue ground. Three white crescents (on a blue background) were first used on a South Carolina banner protesting the Stamp Act in 1765.

No one star on the flag represents a given state. It's the number of stars (50) that symbolizes the United States of America. Good Question.

The flag of Victoria represents the state of Victoria in Australia. It is a British Blue Ensign defaced by the state badge of Victoria in the fly. The badge is the southern cross with an imperial crown on top.

The star 15-star, 15-stripe USA "Spangled Banner" from Fort McHenry in 1814 is in the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. It has been going through extensive restoration.
