Ours has survived 2 trips outside of his tank. It is about 4 years old. The first time it was out for about 4 hours. The most recent trip it was out for 6 or more hours, full of dog hair, and very clammy. I cleaned it off and dropped him back in the tank and he's been fine ever since. Very tough critters.

All frogs can easily jump out of a bowl without a lid. Many frogs can climb slick surfaces like glass. A wire mesh lid is recommended because it will prevent the frog from escaping and still provide the proper ventilation.
