There are many things that can cause pain when having bowel movements, some are minor and benign (like when you eat some hot chiles and the next day you feel the "second burn"), and others are extremely serious and need immediate medical attention. It also depends upon where the pain is, at the rectum or inside the bowel, for example. Many people have hemorrhoids and they can cause rectal pain. Minor constipation can cause an uncomfortable bowel movement, if you drink more water and eat more fiber, you can help prevent that. But any time you have changes in your bowel habits or pain or discomfort with BMs, you should check with your health care professional right away.

It actually can depend on what caused it. If the cause is still occurring then it won't go away. Or if it does, then it will certainly come back again until you stop the cause.

Here's a few tips to help along the way.

Wipe with soft toilet paper only. Add some aloe and witch hazel to soothe and repair. No more straining or forcing on the toilet! Eat more veg and fruit. And buy some fiber powder to add to a glass of water each day. Then make sure you drink 8 glasses of water each day. You want the poo to slip out nice and easily and fiber helps this to happen if combined with lots of water.

hey. I'm a 13 year old female and i am 5 foot 4. i weigh 90.5 ibs. well anywho's, I've been having this like seriously painful peircing sensation in my left front side just below my rib cage for like almost 2 weeks. it hurts so bad one moment that I'm doubled over crying, then the next moment, it feels good enough to where i can jump on the trampoline. i don't know what to do about it, because there really isn't anything i can do. my parents don't believe me because they said if the pain was that bad that i would have a fever and the pein would be consistant. I've been begging them to believe me and that i know somthing is wrong but they think im being a hypacondriact. i did go to the doctor. they tested my urine and found blood in it so i had to do an ultrasound. all my tests came out normal. i honestly just want some answers and i want it to go away.im really scared that it might be a cist because all my symptoms are exactly what my step-sister expeirenced before she had to get a cist the size of a Nerf football removed, but at the same time, if it was a cist, wouldn't it have shown up on the ultra sound? what do i do?

Your body doesn't digest fiber, which allows it to scrape against your intestine wall and clear off any blockage.

If you have a finger like projection in the small intestine, seen by a scope, or X-ray? If seen by scope, it's usually a polyp. They are fairly common, in the large bowel they would remove it during a colonoscopy. In the small bowel if they have seen with a scope it has to be close to the stomach or close to large bowel. I would think they would remove polyps they can see. It doesn't hurt, and they would send it to the lab. to have it checked.

Bowel movements that sticks to the side of the toilet bowl could indicate the presence of too much oil. If this is a constant problem, it could indicate chronic pancreatitis.
