He got in when he reapplied. I would go the same route as him. Retake the ACT and get at least a 23.

Two stories on Michigan's Nickname:

Evidence show that if wolverines ever lived in Michigan, they would have been very rare.

Some people believe that Ohioans gave Michigan the nickname around 1835 during a dispute over the Toledo strip, a piece of land along the border between Ohio and Michigan. Rumors in Ohio at the time described Michiganians as being as vicious and bloodthirsty as wolverines. This dispute became known as the Toledo War.

Another reason given for the nickname is a story that has Native Americans, during the 1830s, comparing Michigan settlers to wolverines. Some native people, according to this story, disliked the way settlers were taking the land because it made them think of how the gluttonous wolverine went after its food.

The last time Michigan State beat Ohio State was November 6th, 1999. They won 23-7. OSU has beaten MSU 7 times in a row. The Spartans and Buckeyes did not meet in 2001, 2002, and 2009, and will not meet in 2010 due to the Big Ten's revolving schedule. Only Indiana has gone longer without beating Ohio State (1988).

Michigan was and is overly dependent on the domestic auto industry. With the near-collapse of that industry, the economy of Michigan is unable to generate enough jobs for the population. Residents move out of the state for employment opportunities.

Bud wanted to clear his mind and gather his thoughts. As a result, he decided to walk from Flint to Grand Rapids. He also felt the walk would be a great source of exercise and relaxation.

In 1835, there was a conflict between Michigan and Ohio over the port of Toledo. (It was almost an entirely bloodless war) In the outcome, Ohio got the Toledo strip and the port of Toledo, mainly because it was a state at the time and Michigan was a territory. However, although it had to give up the Toledo strip, the U.S. allowed it to become a state and granted it its current Upper Peninsula. At the time, Ohio had a better benefit with having Toledo. But, with the discovery of copper and iron in the Upper Peninsula, as well as plentiful timber, Michigan gained huge profit. So now, Michigan got the better deal after all.

I know that Michigan (and most of the Great Lakes area) has "westerly" prevailing winds. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find out whether that means the winds blow from the west (to the east) or to the west (from the east). I had a weather vane that seemed to point West pretty consisantly, which makes me believe that "westerly" prevailing winds must blow towards the west, although I can't say definitely.

A Westerly wind, is blowing out of or comming from the west and moving east. So when you read a weather report it will say "NW at 9mph" meaning it is comming out of a northwesterly direction moving to the southeast and obviously the wind speed is 9mph.
