'Sand snake' is not a common name for any snake I am aware of (except in 'Star Wars' novels where a Sand Snake is a fur covered snake native to Geonosis.)

You may be referring to a 'Sand Boa'. In which case, it would be very unusual for them to eat another snake, but like with most snakes, anything that can fit in its mouth may be considered food under the right conditions (such as if its standard diet is not available for prolonged periods, or if two grab the same food item, the larger will keep eating and eat the smaller snake).

That's simply not true. Lots of snakes are edible; I have personally eaten snakes from different species.

That depends upon the species of snake and season of the year. Some snakes are abroad during the hot daylight hours. Others come out only in the cooler morning or evening. Some only emerge after dark.

Like other kingsnakes, the scarlet kingsnake is nonvenomous and is primarily a constrictor. It subdues it prey by wrapping around it ind squeezing, preventing the prey from breathing and restricting oxygen flow to the brain.

The coral snake, by contrast, is highly venomous. It bites its prey and injects a powerful neurotoxin that causes paralysis and eventually stops the heart and lungs.

I don't know about the King Ranch but I do know that the oil companies in Duval County Texas imported them back in the 30's to keep the rattlesnake population down since most of their oilfield workers lived in tent cities.
