How much of a 500Mg of acetaminophen do you give a 8 year old?
Just for those who do not know, acetaminophen or paracetamol is a widely used over-the-counter analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It is commonly used for the relief of fever, headaches, and other minor aches and pains, and is a major ingredient in numerous cold and flu remedies. Acetaminophen is generally safe for children, as it was marketed as a pain and fever reliever for children, under the brand name Tylenol (the word "tylenol" was a contraction of para-acetylaminophenol).
However, the effect to infants may be negative. In 2008 a study conducted in 31 countries on over 200,000 children indicates that infants who are given paracetamol may be at an increased risk of developing asthma as children.
What is the RF value for paracetamol?
That depends on many factors including the elution solvent used, the type of TLC plate used, etc.. When using .5% of acetic acid in ethyl acetate as your elution solvent and on a plastic backed plate, the Rf-value should be around 79.82%

What is the difference between brand-name and generic-name?
The name of the company that manufactures the product.
Some generic products, rightly or wrongly, are perceived to be inferior to the Brand name product.
The Brand name product is usually made by the company that first made it and either developed a great reputation or had a great reputation.
In fact, another company could come along long after the Brand name product was introduced, make a minor dimensional or material change for example, and offer a better version of the same product. Of course they could just as easily produce an inferior product. At that point Brand Image would become a factor.

Can kids take Tylenol and Zyrtec together?
Yes...but be sure you have the correct dose according to their weight from your doctor.
I was just at the doctor today and he told me to give my one year old daughter (20.4 LBS) Tylenol as needed every 4-6hrs at a dose of 0.8ml and 24hr Zyrtec before bed for the next 5 days at a dose of 2ml/2cc aka 1/2 tsp.
I am also a nurse at a Children's hospital. It is safe as long as you are giving a dose based on the child's weight...not the child's age.
It would depend on how old or how far past the expiration date you are talking about. That date is an ideal situation, not written in stone.
When I was in the Peace Corp, we used to collect newly expired samples and also get them from the drug reps to take overseas to places where we worked so the local doctor would have some meds to give out when needed for free. They would be newly expired, still in their little cases and inspected for any changes. You think they cared that the expiration date had past? Not at all!
Rule of thumb - If the meds have been kept in a dry, dark, clean place, but not in the bathroom or kitchen where it's more humid; if they have look exactly as they are suppose to - no color change, no crumbling, no slickness or other changes; If they are YOUR prescription I would say no more than a year over expiration date.
The Tylenol part isn't want loses effectiveness, it's the codeine that will break down and not be as effective (and in some cases, increase effectiveness).
What is the dosage for Tylenol pain pills?
Tylenol is simply the brand name, but it's a non-aspirin product,so why would you take both? I wouldn't recomend using both. You can alternate, though. Always follow the direction on the bottle as liver damage can occur with too much non-aspirin products.

Can you take Zyrtec and Tylenol PM together?
Because they both contain antihistamines, they will cause a reaction. Tylenol PM has the same antihistamine as Benadryl and it is not recommended that you take Zyrtec and Benadryl at the same time. Contact you doctor to verify if you can take your Zyertec in the morning (as usually prescribed) and the Tylenol in the evening. Zertec is a long acting antihistamine and should be out of your system before you go to bed. The Tylenol PM is a short acting antihistamine and would be out your system before your morning dosage.
What affects does paracetamol have on your body?
Ibuprofen brand name: Advil, Children's Advil / Motrin, Medipren, Nuprin, Pediacare Fever etc.
Ibuprofen belongs to a class of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These drugs are used for the management of mild to moderate pain, fever, and inflammation. Prostaglandins are chemicals that are made by the body and are responsible for causing pain, fever and inflammation. Ibuprofen blocks the enzyme that makes prostaglandins (cyclooxygenase), resulting in lower levels of prostaglandins. As a consequence, inflammation, pain and fever are reduced.
Ibuprofen Drug Interactions
Ibuprofen is associated with several suspected or probable interactions that can affect the action of other drugs. Ibuprofen may increase the blood levels of lithium (Eskalith) by reducing the excretion of lithium by the kidneys. Increased levels of lithium may lead to lithium toxicity. Ibuprofen may reduce the blood pressure-lowering effects of drugs that are given to reduce blood pressure. This may occur because prostaglandins play a role in the regulation of blood pressure. When ibuprofen is used in combination with aminoglycosides (e.g., gentamicin) the blood levels of the aminoglycoside may increase, presumably because the elimination of aminoglycosides from the body is reduced. This may lead to aminoglycoside-related side effects. Individuals taking oral blood thinners or anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) should avoid ibuprofen because ibuprofen also thins the blood, and excessive blood thinning may lead to bleeding.
Ibuprofen Side Effects
The most common ibuprofen side effects are rash, ringing in the ears, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation and heartburn. Serious Ibuprofen side effect is ulceration of the stomach or intestine, and the ulcers may bleed. Sometimes, ulceration and bleeding can occur without abdominal pain, and black tarry stools, weakness, and dizziness upon standing (orthostatic hypotension) may be the only signs of a problem. Renal ibuprofen side effects include reduction of blood flow to the kidneys and impaired function of the kidneys. The impairment is most likely to occur in patients with preexisting impairment of kidney function or congestive heart failure, and use of ibuprofen in these patients should be done cautiously. People who are allergic to other NSAIDs, including aspirin, should not use ibuprofen. Individuals with asthma are more likely to experience allergic reactions to ibuprofen and other NSAIDs.
None, as it is dangerous to mix any form of medication, be it prescriptive or non-prescritive , with alcohol. If you must take a pain reliever, however, the safest choice would be a low dose (one pill) of Aleve, as it has less of a detrimental effect on the liver and kidneys than Tylenol and the other NSAIDs.
What is side effect of Tylenol with codeine?

Can you take hydroxyzine and Tylenol pm together?
Answer:
Yes, you can take about 2 Tylenol PM's and however much hydrcodone your doctor is giving you. The only thing is that if you are thinking about going on Tylenol PM long-term you might want to talk to your doctor about that. And always remember to follow the dosage directions on the Tylenol PM box.
With all due respect, let's consider some prior postings, and use greater precision when offering lay advice in a forum such as this, especially when the person submitting an answer claims more than lay credentials.
From the phrasing of the question, and prior postings on this site, my assumption is that the question is unclear as it actually needs to be understood in terms of the chemical and its/their dosage(s) involved.
100% hydrodocone is not actually what is in the M357 [Mallinkrot Pharma's 5-500] or M-360 [their 7.5-750]. Practically any hydrocodone pill, as noted in many postings, contains 100x as much acetaminophen as hydrocodone. Oxycodone is one of the forms that lacks acetaminophen.
So does the question refer to someone taking a generic Vicodin [hydrocodone + acetaminophen] or 100% hydrocodone? It seems to me that this should be clarified, before posting the answer.
The significance of this clarification should not be overlooked, as I recently discovered that there are emergency room MDs who write prescriptions for hydrocodone, although their written narrative specifically states that "the patient should avoid the acetaminophen part" (!) A pharmacist can only fill the prescription as written and does not have access to the other paperwork that documents a patient-doctor visit.
