As one who is afraid of heights, I can honestly tell you that once you are in the air, you become less nervous. I believe it is because you are surrounded by the roof and sides of the plane and your feet are firmly planted on a sturdy floor. If you are terribly nervous, you can go to your doctor beforehand and have him prescribe you something that will help you remain calm and collected for the duration of the flight. Another thing you can do is: Face Your Fears Head On. That may seem hard to do, but make your mind up that "I am GOING to do this." And do it. Perhaps you could choose a window seat - it is fascinating to view the earth from an airplane and realize it looks like a map, the boundaries, roads, and other formations are usually visible, and the clouds and sun are a wonder to behold. Decide you are going to enjoy your first plane trip, keep your mind on the fascinating views and the awesomeness of your first experience flying and you will be okay. Later on, you will wonder why you were ever nervous in the first place.
I know acrophobia is a fear of heights. 'Acro' is a Greek root meaning 'summit' and 'phobia' means 'fear'.
Acrophobia, Altophobia, Hypsiphobia and Hyposophobia are all names used in referring to a fear of heights or high places
to conquer the fear of heights you must reconize that you have that fear. after that you have to start out small with facing your fear. like a ferris wheel or something. than you take the next step. maybe trying parasailing over the ocean, or if your not ready for that try standing on the balcony of a skyscraper. after you feel you've conquered these three steps. try the ultimate fear facing challenge, go bungee jumping or try the doing something which faces you with heights. also remember this...if you are dealthy afraid of heights and you do something like parasailing, try thinking "what's the worse that can happen" or "thousands of people have done this before me...im gonna be alright" ~hope i helped!!!
"high" is the adverb because it describes how they climbed; i.e., it modifies the verb.
