Can an alligator gar eat a whole person?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Don't think there's any currently living Shark that'd be able to swallow a human whole. The Sharks that take big prey have teeth designed to take chunks out, which is how they usually eat.

Once in pieces, there are Sharks big enough to eat something human-sized in one meal.

While Sharks do kill a handful of people each year, actually eating people is rare.

What is the adaptation for the African savanna crocodile?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Like all animals, crocodiles have developed many adaptations to aid in their survival. They have developed successful ways of reproduction, feeding, locomotion, and others.

Because reptiles are cold-blooded, the crocodiles have to find ways to maintain their body temperatures. During cooler months, the crocs bask in the sun on the mud of tidal riverbanks. During the hotter months, they hang out mostly in the water and in the shade and only come out to hunt in the evening and night.

What to do if a crocodile is chasing you?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are a number of strategies depending upon the equipment that you have available. Crocodile have very strong muscles that close their jaws, but much weaker muscles to open their jaws, so if you can tape their jaws shut with duct tape, they can't bite you. If you have a large knife (in the style of Crocodile Dundee) you can stab the crocodile through the top of its head, into its brain and kill it. With a rocket propelled grenade, I could blow it into small pieces. Failing that, I would just run away or get back into my boat and leave by whatever propulsive means is available. And if all of those strategies fail, I would die and be eaten.
