Alternative Rock Music

Each member plays multiple instruments. Regine Chassagne plays piano, organ, drums, accordion, and hurdy gurdy. Win Butler plays guitar, bass guitar, and piano. Richard Reed Parry plays guitar, piano, accordion, and drums. Tim Kingsbury plays guitar, bass guitar, and piano. Will Butler plays piano, guitar, bass guitar, synth, and percussions. Jeremy Gara plays drums, guitar, and piano. And Sarah Neufeld plays violin, viola, and piano. They're all very talented people :)

Godsmack's music is considered hard rock. It tends to be played on stations that play heavy rock music, but also alternative music. The music could also be considered as post grunge.

My band has 2 guitarists one bass and one lead, a drummer, electric and electric acoustic guitars, A mandoline, a violen, and a singer and back up singers.

It was because of the sound there lead singer sounded like and how fast he rapped and Tom Morello's guitar playing sounded like a rap beat. The sounds rage against the machine played was called Nu Metal. A sound of grunge with the sounds of rap music

Some of the members may be Christian, but they are not a "Christian band" as such. Many of their songs contain biblical imagery and themes, but the album "Neon Bible" does not address Christianity itself, in either a positive or negative light. The bandmembers have been largely silent on the subject of their own personal beliefs.

Lead singer Win Butler did study theology in college, but this seems to be largely an academic and philosophical pursuit rather than one relating to any personal beliefs he might hold himself. Although he is extremely interested and literate in religious texts, and the bible in particular, he does not seem to be a Christian himself. When asked if he believed in a god, he responded simply that he doesn't know.

Regarding the bible itself, he stated:

"There's definitely an aspect of religion always combining with culture and becoming a third thing. Where it gets weird is when people mistake the culture for religion, and vice versa. These deeply held beliefs that are partially cultural artifacts. The idea that every line in the Bible is supposed to apply to some real thing in your life and you have to find some way to make it all apply.

For me, it's hard to relate to so many different stories. There's a lot to chew on in the Bible, and [it's impossible] to think of it as one coherent whole that's telling you one specific thing, like it's some kind of manual on how to live. I don't see how you can read that and get that out of it. There is some advice in there, but that's not the overall sense I get. It's way more varied than that."

This person has ADD and feels like an outcast. People treat that person differently and they feel alone. They feel like a "different breed" as the lead singer says. The song is sung with bitterness and remorse in his voice so he is mad at the world for treating him this way. Sometimes he wishes that he could just "Sail" away.
