I think many people forget that most prescriptions are chemicals that of course can alter certain bodily functions. I switched from Ambien to Lunesta because I felt like I had amnesia when I woke. Lunesta just does nothing for my sleep so I switched back. I have sleep apenea and can't seem to get to sleep with the mask on without taking something. So back to the question, I think if you start to notice changes like morning amnesia, or forgetfulness throughout the day you might want to re-evaluate what meds your are taking. Not getting the right kind of sleep is the worst.

Yes it can! I spoke to a pharmacist at Walgreen's just a moment ago because I had the same question. The generic brand of Ambien doesn't seem to have the same effect on me as the name brand did. She assured me that they are the same as far as ingredients but I can tell you that 3 day son the name brand worked great where as 3 days on the generic didn't work at all.

The pharmacist said do not make a habit of taking Tylenol PM though. She said it contains Tylenol and Benedryl. It will help you fall asleep but you'll wake up in the night. The Ambien will keep you asleep through out the night.
