Amelia was last seen when she and Fred Noonan took off from Lae airfield, New Guinea to fly the approximately 2,500 miles to Howland Island At 0843, July 2, 1937, Amelia Earhart sent her last received SOS from the area of the Dragon's Triangle. She was never heard from again.

It has not been proven yet to my knowledge but Papua New Guinea was the last place she was seen and wreckage was found in the mountains there.

It was fictionalized considerably, names changed and story line altered ( last mission was solo- no Fred Noonan navigator). the film was called Flight(not fight!) For Freedom and was made by RKO ( Hughes controlled) in l943. Title character a CIA ( as we would not say) operative is fatally downed by Japanese AA fire in the end. there is no doubt she was a Counter-intelligence agent. In the film she is called Toni Carter which seems to be borrowed from characters ( Marie Antoinette for Toni) and Sidney Carton ( not a milk dealer!) from Tale of Two Cities, both expendable in the revolution. There was no real bio-film specifically about Amelia Earhart, ( prior to current one with Hillary Swank) but there have been close approaches with films dealing with aviatrix characters inc luding Tarzan and the Magic Fountain) where the missing "trix was called Gloria James ( H"mm rival road, NYC, huH!) and was played by Evelyn Ankers, this is almost science fiction in the Tarzan matter. another Tarzan novel ( Tarzan and the Princess) was about Illegal Alien #l from the U.S.S.R. so it goes. there are more films directly about Anastasia than Amelia- Rank hath its privileges, Comrade. a Princess is far above a non-rated intelligence operative!

The Monotype is a typesetting machine no longer used but having the same basic keyboard as a typewriter(or modern computer) They normally had two keyboards in paralell(one in reserve) and the whoole complex weighed 2500 Lbs, as much as a Jeep. The Oldsmobile Curved Dash model was inthe design stages in l897. also.

Amelia was named Amelia Mary Earhart after her two grandmothers, Amelia Harres Otis and Mary Wells Earhart -- a family tradition. It should also be noted that questioners who spell her last name wrong think it was "Airhart," and that her name had some relationship to her occupation as an aviator. It did not.

She got into flying by seeing her first plane at the Iowa State Fair and loved what it looked like and loved seeing the flyer's do tricks.

And after that she got really interested in planes and flying.

Nobody knows what happened to Amelia Earhart or how she got lost, but the facts seem to point to an island called Nikumaroro Island (formerly known as Gardner Island). apparently this is somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, near Howland Island, she may have survived as a castaway on this uninhabitated island, because a skeleton and some artifacts were found.

The ninety-nines ( note spelling) was founded by Earhart in the year l929 before the economic crash. One notes that there was and is a l99th Tactical Reconnaisance detachment in the Air Force =operating mainly U-2 and similar craft, and the character portrayed by Barbara Feldon in (Get Smart) a female spy was code numbered- agent 99, a Smoky stack invites attack- too much screening here.

Amelia Earhart impacted the lives of others by doing things that people thought only men could do but Amelia Earhart did things tat people onLy said men could do. She also encouraged woman to do the same as her.

They both excelled in male-dominated professions.

Amelia Earhart went to fly around the world in the year of 1937. She was then never found or seen again. People think that maybe the japanesse had found and captured Amelia and Fred Noonan. I believe that that answer is true. Because she was lost around where the japanesse was told to have captured them and then she had lost signal and had not been seen or heard since. Fred noonan has not been seen or heard from since they lost signal before they went missing.
