Amish values and norms are guided by a simple and peaceful life. Amish people have a Anabaptist Christian belief system with their specific rules coming from a set of rules handed down from previous generations, called an Ordnung. Their values on friendship, family, close community ties, simplicity, and faith guide them.

First off the Amish aren't the only ones that wear suspenders. Many businessmen, especially ones of the larger variety, much prefer suspenders or "braces" to wearing a belt. Notably for two reasons one: belts don't hold your pants up and are mostly for decoration whereas braces once they are set at the desired length will keep your pants right where you want them, and two: due to the aforementioned reason when wearing slacks with braces you can leave a little extra room around the waist which will make your pants much more comfortable. Just be sure that you don't wear both braces and belts at the same time, unless you want everyone to think you're from Texas.

They do use the same systems of government aid and government agencies, they use same public convinces as buss systems and parks, and it is increasing debate how much drain the Amish society is to the state and federal finances.

But there is no doubt, that the increasing medical problems among the Amish people, is putting a burden on health care system, as Amish tend to settle their bills at discount percentage of the cost.

There are many differences between Amish and Pentecostals. Both stem from Anabaptism, but the Amish are a plain people with very reserved church services in German. Pentecostals believe in the Holy Spirit and faith healing.

Most of time they do marry in their faith, only looking for a mate in their own community, which has increased the progression of genetic problems.

But there is small percentage of outside English, that do join the Amish, Amish adopt English outside children, and rumoured infertile men have outside men sleep with their wives to conceive, plus occasional infidelity.

Well, I don't know about the Amish in other areas, but in Lancater County, PA (high Amish population), they always sew their clothes at home. They don't have patterns for them. However, the one article of clothing that can be purcased is the men's white shirt that is worn to chirch

The Ammish may claim not to "hate" black people but that does not mean they ALLOW them to intermingle with them or their families or their gatherings and that also includes interracial unions being formed between those who black and those who are Ammish (white)

Those who say the Ammish do not hate black people are only giving half a story. Hate does not have to be open or publicly done but it can be silently and privately practiced.

1. Several say the Ammish do not hate black people because they do not judge according to Matthew 7: 1. Certainly they do not judge with words but their lack of associations with those who are black as well as lack of interracial unions and lack of mixtures in their communities do show that some form of judging had to have taken place in order to keep their communities the way that it is presently is.

2. Several misquote scrptures such as Genesis 6:9, Genesis 24:2-4, and Lev. 21:14 stating that God wants all to stick to their own race. A ridiculous and absurd misquotation of scripture. God is NOT against interracial union in fact. He grafted in those who belong to the Gentile racial heritages (called the wild olive tree in the Bible) be they black, Asian or Hispanic into the Jewish racial heritage who are called the olive tree in the bible. God also does NOT see interracial unions as wrong because in Christ ALL are ONE and are ALL His Children (Romans 11: 17 and Galatians 3: 26-29).

Don't believe all everything you see on that show. I don't know whether it's the kids pulling the legs of the producers, or if a creative scriptwriter is being especially creative, but it's not just fiction, it's fantasy.

No belief system is simple. Literally there are 100's of beliefs or teaching or doctrines that a belief system can have. Just listing possible beliefs could take a long time. So be more specific. Amish are a branch of Christians that believe in hard work and living off what the land provides. they also believe that mirrors and pictures steal their souls. they don't like newer technology or in the use, but give there 16 year old kids one week out side of the Amish community to see what today's tech is like in that week they can choose to leave and live outside the community.

Members of the Amish community would pay the same taxes as any normal citizen, with the exception of Social Security and Medicare taxes. The receive an exemption from paying these taxes by completing the IRS form provided at the attached link. Because as a community they faithfully care for their own elderly and infirm they have no need for government welfare programs. Parents traditionally will move in with their children once they are too old to care for themselves. By taking an exemption for paying these taxes they certify that they are Amish and waive all rights to collecting benefits from these programs as long as they remain so.

The Amish attitude toward modern appliances is that they are totally unnecessary. The Amish believe that hard manual labor and a sense of community is what leads to a fulfilling life without the need for modern appliances.

The Amish are no different than any other woodworker other than they don't use electricity so no power tools.They use woodworking plans like everyone else but do it the pure,natural old school way.It takes longer but the quality is equal or even better.
