No. While there are several different 9mm cartridges, none of them interchange with a 7.62 cartridge. You need to clarify your question- there is no such cartridge as a 7.62 9mm. There are 7.62 pistols, but 9mm is a caliber, not a type of firearm.

What is the best ammo for a 30 06 and 308 savage?
Today I shot my new Savage .308 and used Federal 7.62X51 FMJ ammo, grouping nicely at 100 yards. I went to Remington Core-Lokt .308 rounds and both my dad and I had a hard time keeping tight groupings. From what I hear a fair number of guns have some preference. I just haven't found the right round for deer hunting yet, as the FMJ simply will not do. I also await an answer to this question.

I think you're asking about hollow point bullets. ? they have a hollow tip (duh) that when they hit something the tip explodes through the target, and the shrapnel causing massive amounts of damage while the bullet does not penetrating as deep.

Nope. The term is FRANGIBLE bullet. They are constructed of material that causes them to break apart when striking a hard surface- but they are not hollowpoints. Materials have included powdered iron, pressed into a mold, or bakelite type plastics. Not too common, they were created for special uses, such as training aerial gunners. When they hit a hard surface, they break into dust- so no flying off at angles.
