Anoles

They are insectivores so they eat almost anything for example moths, crickets, wax-worms, super-worms, earthworms, gnats, roaches, fruit-flies and things of that nature. They do not eat pill bugs (Rolly Polly) fireflies box-elders (anything bright in color) butterflies beetles mosquito hawks spiders meal-worms and stuff like that. Hope this helped!!!

Florida has seen its coldest days in years. I unfortunately have found many many dead. (frozen) lizards all over the place.. I bring them in the house in a coverd bowl some come back from the dead..telling there story of the afterlizard life.. lolol.. no seriously... I went out to buy some meal worms.. but they don't eat them.. or wont.. the store is out of pinhead crickets 3 stores.. very poopular to them. like filet mignon. lolol. anway does anyone know how long a green anole can live without eating? i have water for them. and worms.. and its to faaaareeeking cold to let them out still .. its Jan 7. 2010. we will have snow this weekend.. I drempt it last week. everyone laughs at me. the will see. anyway let me know if anyone can help me. love, lazylizard.

Green Anoles lizards are wild however, they can somewhat be trained/tamed to an extent. The more you handle them the more they get accustomed to being handled and will be less likely to try and escape from you. Be careful handling them to much or too roughly, they are fragile and wash your hands before handling them so as to keep them from getting ill.

Females have a dark brown diamond shaped marks along their spine, and males have the red skin flap on they're throats that the stick out when they are either mad, feel threatened, or when they attract females.

Yes they do, a very good pet, easy to take care of, pretty friendly, you just have to have a lot of rocks and fake plants for them to climb on, a fairly tall and wide tank, and make sure the temperature is right

go to the zoo, pick up an anole and study it closely like a scientist would, and look at its color the male will be brown and the female will be red.if you are color blind then you might want to look at its eyeball. the male will have 5 pupils the female will have 21. if you are blind then feel its fur, the male will have only have 3 little sploches of hair, and the female will just have no hair. if you lost your hand in the civil war and you are also color blind or blind then you just have no luck so go to your mommy, cry it all out and get a life.

No, and I would not recommend it as a feeder insect for any other lizard. The chemical(s) that produce light and give the lightning bug its name will make any critter that makes the mistake of eating it sick. It is usually fatal, especially for young ones, and you'll be extremely lucky that your lizard makes it through alive without future complications.

ok this may b because wat u r feeding it. If u r feeding it dead flies or wat ever is dead, it may not notice it, like mine. if u feed it live, small crickets it should go right after them.If not, it may be because it doesnt like wat ur feeding it

These two species, from two completely separate eco systems cannot co exist in the same terrarium. Its impossible to mimic their natural environments in the same terrarium.

So anyways, both the male and female brown anoles have a red flap called a dewlap. The males dewlap is larger than the females, and they use their dewlap to attract mates, warn off predators, and to threaten other males. The females dewlap is very small, but if you pick a female up you can see it. The difference between the males and females dewlap is great. While the males are quarter sized or larger when inflated, the females are smaller then a penny.

The males are larger then the females, which is quite common in different lizard species. You can obviously tell the difference when both male and female browns are in sight.

The coloring in both sexes are very similar. The lizards can change their coloring from a light brown to a blackish color, so the coloring doesn't help when telling the males and females apart.

I personnally think that treps are unnecessary and that you should try to catch one yourself, unless you lure it into a cage and set it free somewhere else.

a long tail lizard, other green anoles, bahman anoles, and curly tailed lizards can live with green anoles.... I've had them all in with green anoles.... they've done great!

Anoles change colors from green to brown, so you can tell the difference. Plus chameleons are bigger than anoles.

No. they live in a green, wet environment. They like to climb trees and plants. If you get one, make sure you have a sprayer full of water and plants. Nontoxic plants or plastic ones work.

I'm not very sure because some people say they live 2-3 years. However others say they can live up to 8 years. Well I believe that constantly taking care of them will not shorten their life spans but their lives will be longer maybe 3-8 years. A healthy anole, a longer life span! I have two anoles they get along very good even though one is a male and the other a female.

first it will become very skinny do not be afraid of this but if your iguana is not eating at all call a vet. next it will begin to be very preditorial , do not move the iguana or it will probaly bite you. then it will lay egg if not after 6 weeks send for a vet but do not move the iguana

Male iguanas may get territorial and may bite the anole. Female iguanas can live with other lizards quite peacefully provided the other reptile isn't territorial. Make sure there's a lot of room in the tank/cage and plenty of hiding places for them to destress. Keep an eye on everyone because theyre likely to get sick at least initially when caged with other reptiles. Also anoles love to eat crickets. Iguanas are vegetarians and crickets may often bite and injure the iguana.

Baby anoles should be fed once per day. Adults should be fed every other day. Provide as many insects as they can eat in 15 minutes, and remove the leftovers. Insects should be no larger than the space between their eyes, and should be properly supplemented with calcium. (Use vitamin powder once a week, calcium with D3 the rest of the time). UVB light is necessary.

Appropriate feeder insects include 1/4" or smaller crickets, flightless fruit flies, and small wax worms (occasionally).

Green anoles may enjoy Repashy day gecko or crested gecko diet, but brown and bark anoles may ignore it.
