Yes you can. Even though your the one that swerved & caused the wreck your also the one that was trying to avoid the accident & hurting something. Which then caused your wreck. So if you hadn't swerved to miss the deer you would have hit the deer & been in a wreck anyway, plus you would have hurt the deer. So your wreck was inevitable, it was going to happen no matter what. More info-- one driver was speeding down a residential street late for work and hit a parked car's slightly open door and ripped it off. The parked car driver had a license and coverage but it was a new lease and had not yet added the new car to the policy. The in-motion driver had current coverage but no drivers license. I believe you are saying one care is parked and is hit by another car that leaves the scene of the accident. If your vehicle has uninsured motorist coverage then the UM coverage will pay to repair your vehicle less your deductible. If later a witness or the offender turns himself in and your company had already paid, the other party will reimburse the insurance company and they will reimburse you for your deductible.

If you failed to contact the police after the accident you may be in serious trouble here. You have no proof that an accident even occurred except for the damage to your vehicle. Do you know the other party? If not why would you allow them to leave without getting some information from them? This sounds fishy to me and I'm sure it will to your insurance company as well. Unless you plan to just pay for it yourself, I would recommend that you tell the company the whole truth in the matter and not try to make up something to help a friend as they have seen it all.
