What is the correct grip used in badminton?

There are a few different grips you use in tennis. The different grips include: the Continental Grip, Eastern Grip, Western Grip, Semi-Western Grip, and two-handed backhand grip. Let's start with the Continental Grip. You would use this grip when you are at the net hitting volleys and overheads. You will also use it when serving. You hold the racquet like a hammer with the "V" of your thumb and index finger on the narrower edge of the racquet grip. You'll want to use the Eastern Grip when you wish to hit ground storkes that are flat or have topspin. Hold the racquet with the "V" slightly off to the right. You'll want to use the Western Grip when you want to use extreme topspin. This grip is a preferred grip of clay court players because topspin rules on clay. The "V" extremely far off to the right. You'll want to use the Semi-Western Grip when you want to add power and you are a baseliner. You can either hit topsin or flat with this grip. The "V" is between that of the Eastern Grip and the Western Grip. It is recommended to have a Tennis professional demonstrate the different grips for you, so that you are doing them properly.

What is the average salary of a professional badminton player?

It depends what country you play for or if you include the prize money for tournaments, for example, the Korea open has a prize money of $1,200,000 and the all England is going up to £1,000,000 aswell. So it depends how good you are, but i would say now in 2012 it is easily above £100,000 considering all the sponsors these days and that players in places like malaysia, china, indo and etc. are on millions but in the UK the highest paid singles player (rajiv) is still on almost £100,000, so i would say about £200,000.

What are the rules of singles in badminton?

i play badminton at high standard so here it goes,

In a singles match the side tramlines are always out even after the serve. If you have served and you won the point you serve again in the other box on your side of the court, if your score is an even number (including 0) the you serve in the box on your right, if your score is odd you serve on the left. (the boxes in the four corners of the court are out in singles)

For singles you want to make your opponen move round the court alot, however dont do too much cross-court shots as the side tramlines are out. It is safer to make your opponent run back and forward. For example, if you serve right to the back of the court, he then has to run back to play his shot. The chances are this shot is not going to be a good one so it will most likely drop on your side in front of the net. The best thing to do then is to play a net shot gently over the net so that he has to run forward to get to it, if this shot just about goes over the net, simply send him to the back of the court!

Hope this helps!!
