For singles, from serve to game start, the boundaries will remain the same - the sidelines are the innermost lines and the back line is the outermost line.

How do you score in a badminton match?

First, the main thing you've got to know is if your score is an even number, you always serve on the RIGHT. If it's odd, you serve on the left. There are some rules of doubles. You choose a first player and a second. The first player serves first. If you win the point, you keep serving until you lose the point. This is when there are two ways: 1. You can give it to the opponent's first player and let them serve. When they lose the point. It is the second player on your teams serve. You only get one person's worth of a serve at the start of the game. So, it immediately goes to the other person's team when you lose the serve. 2. You can give it to your second player on you team and serve. Once your team lose the serve, it's theirs and they play first player and then, second player.

What are the dimensions of a typical badminton court?

There is currently no difference in dimensions of a badminton court between a singles or doubles game of badminton.

The court is rectangular and divided into halves by a net. Courts are almost always marked for both singles and doubles play, although the laws permit a court to be marked for singles only. The doubles court is wider than the singles court, but both are the same length. The exception, which often causes confusion to newer players is the doubles court has a shorter serve-length dimension. The full width of the court is 6.1 metres (20 ft), and in singles this width is reduced to 5.18 metres (17 ft). The full length of the court is 13.4 metres (44 ft). The service courts are marked by a centre line dividing the width of the court, by a short service line at a distance of 1.98 metres (6.5 ft) from the net, and by the outer side and back boundaries. In doubles, the service court is also marked by a long service line, which is 0.78 metres (2 ft 6 inch) from the back boundary. The net is 1.55 metres (5 ft 1 inch) high at the edges and 1.524 metres (5 ft) high in the centre. The net posts are placed over the doubles side lines, even when singles is played. There is no mention in the Laws of badminton, of a minimum height for the ceiling above the court. Nonetheless, a badminton court will not be suitable if the ceiling is likely to be hit on a high serve.

Who the person invented the badminton?

Games with a shuttlecock are widely believed to have originated in ancient Greece about 2000 years ago. From there they spread via the Indo-Greek kingdoms to India and then further east to China and Siam (now Thailand).

In England since medieval times a children's game called Battledore and Shuttlecock was popular. Children would use paddles (Battledores) and work together to keep the shuttlecock up in the air and prevent it from reaching the ground. It was popular enough to be a nuisance on the street of London in 1854 when the Punch magazine published a cartoon depicting it.
