Recipe for Fried Bananas

Ingredients

3-4 ripe bananas, sliced once lengthwise & once crosswise (not plantains)

4 Tablespoons Butter

4 Tablespoons Brown Sugar

Melt 4 T butter in 8-10" frying pan

Add 4 T brown sugar

Cook 3 to 4 minutes at a low heat, simmering lightly, stirring constantly.

Add banana pieces, cook gently until done. Don't overcook, banana pieces shouldn't break apart.

Homemade family recipe. Been working for us.
Put some butter in a skillet and let it melt. Sprinkle in some brown sugar and a little cinnamon. Place the peeled and sliced bananas in the pan and cook them until they are browned lightly. Alternately, you can do that same thing without the sugar and cinnamon if you want a more savory dish.

Can you grow a banana tree in south east Texas?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Some of the very cold hardy species (Basjoo, etc.) can grow in west Texas. They need shade and lots of water in the summer but will freeze back in the winter. Normally they will grow again the following warm season unless it has been a very harsh winter. They require frequent applications of fertilizer during the growing season. They should be grown in large pots in areas sheltered from the wind or will quickly have their leaves shredded. Growing in pots also allows them to be moved indoors in the winter.

What do you need to make smoothies?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You put into a blender: up to a cup of mixed fruit chunks, about 2 T frozen OJ concentrate, enough water so it will blend, about 1/4 c of plain yogurt, 1 envelope of Splenda. If you want a different taste you can use almond milk instead of the yogurt, and reduce the sweetening. Blend in the yogurt or almond milk last with the Splenda. You can also put in oatmeal powder (grind in a blender). Frozen fruit chunks can be frozen unsweetened fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, bananas cut about 1-1/2 inches, mango, peaches, etc. Just one banana chunk helps give a smooth texture without overpowering banana taste. Any fruit combination that you like: strawberry, banana, blackberry with yogurt - or banana, peach, oatmeal powder, almond milk. Don't skip the OJ concentrate though; it adds a lot of flavor. Using frozen fruit means you don't have to use ice cubes - if you use unfrozen you need some ice cubes.

Do banana skins rot away?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

First of all it is necessary to determine what the words 'rot' and 'mold' actually mean. Mold can be described as a discoloration caused by various fungi in any atmosphere on the surface of food and thus contributes to its disintegration.

To rot is a condition in plants, fruits and vegetables caused by bacteria and fungi leading to the decay of the object.

These explanations suggests that rot and mold are one and the same thing. The synonym of 'rot' is 'mold' and vice

versa.

Visually, rotting may be detected first of all followed by mold which is not always visible to the naked eye until the mold colonies grow, but nevertheless is still present

Can a banana be recycled?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Well I'm not quite sure but I'm going to say no because its food and is like plastic and metal which combines with the soil.

ADDED: I'm not sure what the first answer was meant to be, but it would be more correct with "yes" instead of "no ", with "... and unlike plastic...", and "it" not "which".

A banana is plant material and so can be "recycled" as compost, like any other vegetable waste. Most plastics and metals do not combine with the soil, though a few, including iron, do break down in time. Iron becomes iron-oxide, in effect reverting to its ore, its natural state in the ground, and harmless.

If 16 bananas cost 2.40 how much would 20 cost?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The cost per banana is $2.40 divided by 16 = 15 cents each. So 20 would cost $3.00.

Another way to calculate this is that 20 is 4 more than 16, and so would cost 1/4 as much as another 16, giving $2.40 + 0.60 = $3.00.
