Who baptizes in the Mormon church?
Yes. In order to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church), you must be baptized. Baptism can take place anywhere, but must be done by immersion and performed by the proper authority (one ordained as a priest in the Church). Mormons do not baptize anyone under 8 years of age, as they believe young children are innocent in the sight of God.

How is life and death represented in baptism?
In an immersion baptism (where in the individual is buried in the water and then pulled up again) death is represented by the person being laid in or buried by the water. This can represent the death of the old person, the natural man, sin, or even the death of Christ - depending upon your personal religious beliefs. Life is represented by coming up out of the water. This can represent a new life in Christ, the resurrection of Christ, and rebirth.

Can a gay person christen a baby in the greek orthodox church?
The Orthodox Church does not divide persons into gay or straight, so neither is a qualification for god-parenting. More pertinent distinctions in the Orthodox Church would be: practicing and non-practicing Orthodox; chaste and unchaste lifestyle; in good standing within the community or lapsed. Consequently, there would be no objection to any person, gay-straight-or otherwise, who is practicing the Orthodox faith, leads a chaste life-style, and is in good standing in her/his local Orthodox community.

What is the one body and one baptism of Ephesians chapter 4 verses 4-5?
This is a passage where Paul (who is in prison) encourages the church at Ephesus to remain unified. Contemporary English versions may help make the meaning clear. 1As a prisoner of the Lord, I beg you to live in a way that is worthy of the people God has chosen to be his own. 2Always be humble and gentle. Patiently put up with each other and love each other. 3Try your best to let God's Spirit keep your hearts united. Do this by living at peace. 4All of you are part of the same body. There is only one Spirit of God, just as you were given one hope when you were chosen to be God's people. 5We have only one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. 6There is one God who is the Father of all people. Not only is God above all others, but he works by using all of us, and he lives in all of us. (Contemporary English Version) 1-3In light of all this, here's what I want you to do. While I'm locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk-better yet, run!-on the road God called you to travel. I don't want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don't want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline-not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences. 4-6You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness. (Message Translation) Answer I agree with all said above. But the meaning of one body, and one baptism is this: The one Body, is The Body of Christ. This is Christ (as the husband) and the church (as the wife, or bride of Christ) as One, or One body. Just as Husband and Wife (bride) are Joined together to become one, one Body, One Flesh at marriage, just as it says in Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. The one baptism is the baptism discussed in all of Romans 6 Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Baptism means immersion, as in to fully put you into something else so you are completely surrounded by that which you are put into. The one baptism is not speaking of water baptism. We partake in water baptism because it is a picture of the spiritual reality that we are baptized into Christ and His death. When we participate in water baptism we are giving a public witness that we identify our selves with Christ and are baptized into Christ and so likewise are baptized into His death and burial, and resurrection. We are "fully put in Him" (immersed, baptized into Him), when we get saved, and fully therefore become part of Him, and so are likewise fully put into (immersed, or baptized into) all that pertains to Him, even His death, burial, and resurrection. Read all of Romans 6, it goes into detail what this baptism is all about, the one baptism, what it accomplishes, and what that means for us as believers now, since we have believed. This is the reason for the unity of the Spirit, that Paul calls us to keep in the preceding verse in Ephesians 4:3. Keep is meant in a "military" sense, as in watch or guard We are to be watchful and be on Guard in order to keep this Unity with our brethren, implying of course that it is something that can be lost. We are to keep this unity of The Spirit that in the bond of peace. That is we are to make every effort to keep this Unity of the Spirit with all our brethren in a peaceful manner, not by cracking the whip. However the implication is that we may endeavor all we can, but some brethren will not come together around the truth by our peaceful manner in hoping to persuade, and then and only then is the brother to be subjected to less pleasant dealings with. But that is another subject entirely, dealing with effective church disciplining of offending members who refuse to do whats right after repeated warnings. Good question.
What happens to holy water after a baptism?
When did Confirmation become separate from Baptism?
What does the white garment received in Baptism mean?
The white garment signifies purity and innocence.
he probully baptize him in the name of the father son and holy spirit cuse they didn't no about jesus bak thenNew answer: No one in the Bible actually water baptizes in the name of Jesus. The baptism in the name of Jesus is the baptism with the Holy Ghost as told by John himself.
Mt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
John's baptism was a baptism in water, of repentance. It was a public display to get ready for the Lords Messiah and the kingdom of heaven. They confessed their sins and got ready for the Messiah. This was John's ministry. As far as I know it was not done in anyone's name except maybe God's but it was definitely done for the kingdom of heaven.
I know there are people today who baptize in the name of Jesus but the baptism in the Bible done in the name of Jesus Christ is a spirit baptism -- and what else would it be? What else in the Bible is Jesus Christ going to baptize with?
1. The Holy Ghost
2. Or fire
Some people every time they see baptism in the Bible they automatically think water baptism but that's not so. Water baptism is just an outward thing or a public thing to show the baptism of the Holy Ghost within. Notice that in Acts 2:38 there isn't anyone present who baptizes them, the people there are just told by Peter to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. This is Pentecost! This is the first fruits. Jesus just told them in Acts 1 that...
Ac 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Therefore the baptism in the name of Jesus Christ is the baptism with the Holy Ghost that gives you eternal life through Jesus Christ.
The funny thing is that hardly anyone believes that.
Possibly because your answer is not biblically based. Scripture tells us John's baptism was a baptism of repentance not a "baptism in water of repentance". Baptism is not just an outwardly "thing". The word baptism means immersion. Coupled with many scripture proofs in the Word pointing to water, one that comes to mind is Phillip meeting with, and sharing Christ with, the eunuch, The eunuch asks Phillip what prevents me from being baptized and Phillip asks do you believe in the LORD Jesus with all your heart and the eunuch responds he does and the word says the chariot stopped and they went "down into the water".
No where in scripture does it say on the day of Pentecost that there was NO water present so why jump to that conclusion?
I do agree John did not baptize in the name of Jesus nor did he baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Scripture does not tell us exactly what words John used.
You are also correct that there is a baptism in the Spirit. Again a spiritual immersion in God's Spirit overflowing in us. It's interesting the Bible says it's like streams of Water bubbling up. Jesus called it living water.
I believe the Bible is clear baptism in water is to be done in Jesus name. There is power in the name of Jesus. Acts 4 tells us there is NO other name under heaven by which man is saved. I guess that leaves only one name. Jesus said I come in my fathers name, Hebrews chapter 1 tells us he inherited the name and Jesus said the Holy Spirit will come in His name. In Mathew 28 Jesus said baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. What is the name of the Son.. Jesus, What is the name of the Father... Jesus (which means Jehovah Savior) and what is the name of the Holy Ghost... Jesus (since Jesus said the Holy Ghost would come in His name)... thus all of scripture is in agreement that there is no other name than the name of Jesus. Also in Zecheriah 14:9 it says "in that day there will be one LORD and only ONE name.
John's baptism wasn't in water? What Bible are you reading?
Mt 3:4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
I think that the Jordan had water in it and confessing their sins was the act of repentance all making ready for Jesus Christ who would then baptize them in the Holy Ghost. Only men have to baptize with water because they can't baptize with the Holy Ghost only the Son of God can do that and He doesn't bother with water when water is only a symbol of the Holy Ghost to begin with.
As far as Acts 2:38 and there having to be a mention of no water in the passage for you to be wrong because that's what they teach at the church you go to? I would think that any sane man would think the other way and that if there is no context of water then ... you shouldn't presume there is any. But I'm not going to belabor that because the obvious thing is that Peter also adds ...
Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Water can't remit sins - only the blood of Jesus Christ can. Water does not cover your soul it only gets you wet. The act of being baptized in Jesus' name takes on what He did at the cross - which coincidentally is mentioned two verses above...
Ac 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
The problem is that most people have been taught exactly what you're saying and they have believed it and then they teach it and then when these points are brought up - they can't believe it.
If this isn't the baptism of Jesus what is?
What does the baptism outfit symbolize?
We wear a white gown or garment because baptism is like the rebirth of a person and white represents purity of the soul.
In some churches it is traditional, if the garment is saved until death, to be buried wearing the baptismal gown (where obviously this may not always be practical). This practice serves as a reminder and a comfort to loved ones and friends that the departed one is a Christian and is now completing the journey which began at baptism in hope of the resurrection to come.
What symbols are shown in the baptism of the church that relate to the beliefs about Jesus?
The rite of baptism is the door way to the body of Christ, the church. Baptism is a burial in a watery grave. It symbolizes the putting down of the old man and being raised in the newness of life. It is a public confession that states I once was lost, but now I am saved, I am dedicating this body, the temple of the Holy Spirit, to the service of Jesus Christ to the honor and glory of God, that I am bought with a price and paid for, I am no longer my own but God's.
Why do Pentecostals sprinkle for baptism?
Pentecostals do not sprinkle for baptism. The baptism formula is given in Matthew 28:19 by Jesus to his disciples. Although many take this and repeat it the disciples understood what Jesus' meant and full filled it on the day of Pentecost when Peter said to be baptized in the name of Jesus.(Acts 2:38) Biblical baptism has always been by submersion in the name of Jesus.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) performs full-immersion baptisms. Candidates for baptism must be at least eight years old and meet basic faith requirements. If under 18 they must have parental permission. The person performing the baptism must be a male who has been ordained Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood. Most Mormon males over the age of 16 are eligible to perform a baptism.
Both the person performing the baptism and the person being baptised will wear all white and stand in the water (ideally waist-deep). The person performing the baptism will raise their right hand to the square and give a short prayer, baptizing the individual in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The one being baptized is then fully immersed under the water and lifted back out. Baptisms may be performed anywhere that deep enough water can be found. Often, church buildings have fonts that may be used, but rivers, lakes, swimming pools, or oceans are also acceptable.
The requirements to be a candidate for baptism, aside from age and parental permission, are a stated testimony that Jesus Christ is your Savior, belief that the Church is the true Church of Christ upon the earth, and obedience to the basic commandments of God for a certain period of time.

What part does baptism play in the salvation process?
Baptism plays a very important part. Faith on its own is not enough, although it is recognised that someone who repents on their deathbed is welcomed into the family of Christ. The thief on the cross is testimony to that. But Baptism is a requirement because Jesus instructed Baptism. Obedience to this is required. Jesus set the example.
But not just any kind of Baptism. Baptism must be in the name of the Father, (Jehovah God); and in the name of the Son (Christ Jesus); and in the name of the holy spirit (not a ghost). Being baptized in those names, means recognizing their authority and position. This of course would require 'knowledge' of them and their role in our behalf.
Another Answer:
The Scripture teaches that we all must repent or turn away from our sins/sinning ways. This was the message of the Prophets, particularly John the Baptist. Once we fully and truly repent (a process which takes differing amounts of time for different people), we are told to be baptized.
Baptism is an outward sign of a persons sorrow at sinning. Symbolically, the old sinful person gets immersed into the water and comes back up, a new being - desiring to follow Christ's example upon receiving God's Holy Spirit begetting that individual into the Family of God.
New International Version (NIV)
38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call."
Why baptism should be by full immersion?
The immersion of baptism is symbolic; it symbolises someone being totally washed by the blood of christ. I think that it is better to have a complete spiritual immersion and it doesn't really matter if baptism is full immersion or not. Baptism is merely a physical desicion that you want to be washed clean by christ so yeah, i dont think there is anything different from a full imersion and a half-immersion.
Can someone besides a priest baptise you?
Anyone with use of reason can baptize someone in case of necessity as long as the proper form is used and the person baptizing has the sincere intention to baptize.
What does baptism in Mormon religion mean?
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that baptism symbolizes being reborn in Christ.
When a Mormon is baptized, they are baptized by immersion, meaning that they are put totally under the water. When the person is laid into the water it symbolizes burying the old life, and when they rise up out of the water it symbolizes the birth a new life.
When a Mormon is baptized they believe that they take upon themselves the name of Jesus Christ, they are now qualified to be covered by His atoning blood to receive salvation.
Baptism washes away any past sins and makes you an official member of the Church. Nobody is baptized before age 8, because Mormons believe that children under age 8 are innocent.
