First of all, it depends how good you are or how strong you are at hitting the ball with the bat. Secondly, the specific material,weight, and how cylinderical the bat is, come into the equation.
My perception is that the aluminum bat will make the ball travel farther as with the wood, the ball could make a bit of a dent and the velocity of the ball may decrease causing it to loose a bit of speed after it is hit by the bat, (taking into account that the dent is miniscule).

I would at least go with an 11 inch glove and possibly an 11 1/2. The 9 inch gloves are really small and will not be usable in a year or two. I would recommend that you get a glove that is game ready....it is basically broken in for you. I do not typically agree with the charts out there that recommend the small glove for this age.
Do football cleats work better for baseball than baseball cleats?
For youth Baseball it probably doesn't make that much difference, but for adult baseball (high school ball and higher), metal baseball cleats are allowed and are more effective than plastic football cleats. Plus, they don't wear down as easily.

well, the way I've always done it was to lace them like regular shoes, then I wrap it around my foot and tie it in a double knot on top of my cleats. I don't know if there is necessarily a CORRECT way to lace cleats, but this is how I've done it for about 5 years, and it's worked for me!

I don't know what the "legal" umpire answer would be, but I do know that fastpitch bats are made lighter so they can be swung quicker. It seems like you would want to use a slowpitch bat in slowpitch for the extra power you would get from the extra weight of the bat.
There is no rule against it as long as the bat is an approved bat in the league you are playing in, i.e. ASA, USSSA, ISA, NSA.
