Why would a baseball fly farther in Denver than in New York?
Since Denver is at a higher elevation than Milwaukee, the air is thinner. Thinner air has fewer molecules, so there is less friction as the ball flies through the air. Less friction means that the force will move the ball a longer distance.

The speeds of pitchers (13-14) vary between kids as much as their size, weight, height and hair color. Yes, I am being facetious but I just want to make a point that speeds vary tremendously. But kids this age should not be focused on speed but rather good mechanics.

How many international league baseball games are there in a season?
I could not find an actual entry that says "IL teams play xxx games per season", but on the International League website, you can download a schedule matrix which tells you the schedule of every team in the IL on one page. Near the upper right-hand corner of the page it says 144 games. And I live near Durham, NC, and enjoy following the Durham Bulls, and as of 9/6/2009, they have played 142 games and have 2 left. I have seen a couple of unconfirmed entries that state they play 140-144 games, but I can't confirm that. 144 is for regular season games, and does not include two rounds of playoffs, each a best-of-5 series.
In MLB how is the games behind determined?
GB = ( (Wina - Winb) + (Lossb - Lossa) ) / 2
*you want the absolute values for each wins and losses. To avoid negative numbers, use this instead of the orgininal formula above.
GB = (ABS(Wina - Winb) + ABS(Lossb - Lossa) ) / 2
Wina = Wins by leader
Lossa = Losses by leader
Winb = Wins by trailer
Lossb = Losses by trailer
Using real numbers from today's standings. Cleveland is 21-19 while Detroit is 16-24 resulting in:
Det GB = ( ( 21 - 16 ) + ( 24 - 19 ) ) / 2 = ( 5 + 5 ) / 2 = 5 Games Back
Another example, Kansas City is 18-21 and thus relative to Cleveland we get KC's GB as:
KC GB = ( ( 21 - 18 ) + ( 21 - 19 ) ) / 2 = ( 3 + 2 ) / 2 = 2.5 Games Back
If it's not obvious which team trails, just sub in the numbers consistently and if you get a negative number, you know that team actually leads by that number of games.

What is the fewest pitches thrown in an inning?
I believe it to be 3 (three) if it occurs in the ninth inning for the home team pitcher whose team has a lead, then the inning is complete without the home team having to pitch. Also a putout of any type would suffice, not just a ground-out. Other outs may qualify too, such as batting out of order, however it does not reduce the pitch count. The out of order batter must a have a minimum of 1 pitch.

Because if you over run first it is no big deal. this is because singles in baseball are alot mor common than doubles and triples. if you overrun second or third then it will look like you are continueing to run to the next base but when you over run first it is obvious that you are staying at frist base.
