First of all , I think I need to say that vampires don't exisit. But in the movies (or what I have heard ) I am 99% sure that they sleep like humans (laying down) but instead of a bed , they sleep in coffins.

How do bats adapt in their environment?
Well adapt basically means to get used too. Bats need food so they have adapted a trait in order to find it, since they search for food at night their eyes are not much use. That's why they use an adaptation called echolocation. They have adapted to the dangerous predators at day by sleeping during the day and hunting at night. And that's only a few of their adaptations to their environment's.
Flying foxes aren't really foxes. They are large nectar and fruit-eating bats. Their bodies are so much bigger than "regular" bats that they look like foxes with wings instead of mice with wings. They can grow so much bigger because they can find plenty of calorie-rich nectar and fruit to eat without spending a lot of energy flying after elusive insects like most bat species. More available calories with less work = the ability to sustain a larger body. I don't think they'd be interested in humans--the only meat they eat is insects they find on the flowers and fruits that make up their main diet.
Which came first - the vampire or the Vampire bat?
The vampire bat was around for millions of years before the invention of vampires. Vampires as understood in popular culture do not and never have existed, whilst vampire bats evolved a long time ago.
I must argue witht he millions of years thing, the world isnt that old and you should know it. Like look at the Bible reverances. Look to the geology of Jesus Christ. And you might be able to figure out how long this wi=orld has existed. =]

The real name of vampire bats?

There are three bat species that feed solely on blood: the Common Vampire Bat (Desmodus rotundus), the Hairy-legged Vampire Bat (Diphylla ecaudata), and the White-winged Vampire Bat (Diaemus youngi). All three species are native to the Americas, ranging from Mexico to Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.
How many little brown bats left in the world?
As of recent estimates, the little brown bat population has drastically declined due to white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease. While exact numbers fluctuate, it's believed that the population has decreased by over 90% since the disease emerged in North America in the mid-2000s. Current estimates suggest there may be only a few hundred thousand left in the wild. Conservation efforts are ongoing to help protect and restore their populations.
What domain does the vampire bat belong to?
Vampire bats are known to reside in humid, tropical climates. They are marginally found in Central America ranging to South America and can be found in dark places such as cave, wells and hollow trees. They live in large colonies together, sometimes reaching populations which exceed a thousand.

What types of bats live in Kentucky?
Few animals are as misunderstood as bats. They are the subject of myths, misunderstandings, and folklore that make them among the most feared animals in Kentucky. Bats are relentlessly persecuted wherever they are found. The presence of a bat in a house probably causes more alarm than does any other wildlife species.
This intense fear is probably more dangerous than the bats themselves. People have broken arms and legs in frenzied escapes, almost drowned falling off boat docks as bats swoop for mosquitoes, or become inadvertently poisoned or otherwise injured when fumigating a home.
These fears are unwarranted. Contrary to what you may have heard:
How do vampire bats protect themselves?
they use there wings to cover from dust and hide in night and they use there teeth to take blood they use their teeth to hurt other animals.
Do bats catch insects on their wings?
Bats use a type of "sonar" to locate objects even in the dark (echo-location). A bat makes a high-pitched noise that bounces off objects nearby and the bat hears the echo. By timing how long it takes for the bat to hear the echo, it can calculate how far away it is. When it comes to a flying insect, the bat listens to the echo of it's noises and is able to locate where the insect is. Then it can fly to the insect and catch it - even if it is pitch dark.
Their echolocation consists of tiny beeps, too high-pitched for our ears, and the echoes tell them where bugs are.
Bats are not actually blind! Bats can actually see very well but at night they use echolocation. This process enables bats to emit sounds from their mouths that bounce off objects and allow them to avoid the objects when flying.
What animal is the bat related to?
Bats are mammals and are related to a wide array of animals such as hedgehogs, whales, camels, giraffes, pigs, dogs, cats and many others. The common ancestor of this diverse group isn't known.
How do bats give birth to their young ones?
Some bats live together in big colonies during the winter. Several hundred males and females may huddle for warmth, hanging upside-down in a cave or old building. In the summer, only females (girls) live together in a maternity (mother) colony of up to several hundred bats. Each mother bat has one or two babies in early summer. The babies cling to their mother's furry belly and drink milk. The mothers and babies all huddle together for warmth. If you ever find a "maternity" or "mother" colony, leave immediately. If you scare the mothers, they will probably drop their babies and accidentally kill them. Baby bats can fly after only one month, and are full grown after two or three months. They live from ten to thirty years.
Are bats attracted to cardboard?

Do bats use there ears to navigate?
No, A bat is actually not blind.. it can see at night, but during the day it sleeps and that's where they came up with the fact that bats are blind in which case they are not..
When interviewed on the subject, Shawn DeCoste thought, "Actually bats have their brains developed to favor their hearing over their vision so much that it actually renders them blind in the eyes, but not in the ears. Their ears are built more like the sensory system in a dolphin or a whale that can just ping the sea and see the whole ocean floor in three dimension, in a place where a species might not want to rely so heavily on the eyes, like the dark. A shark can do something similar with his sense of taste and smell, like a cockroach. The government has developed many amazing technologies based on these sensory systems to be able to see in places where they otherwise might not be able to see. Unfortunately, they're mostly classified." Shawn goes on to mention that he has schizophrenia and he is also a genius. You can learn more about him at myspace.com/conceptshawn.
When a bat screams the lights go on... and when the scream bounces back to their ears they have a 3-D map that they can navigate with their built in GPS systems. If the object moves than it makes a noise of its own that puts it right on the map.
yes. bats see with their ears.
Yes, in the metaphorical sense. Bats use echo location to form an image of their surroundings. They send out a chirp and they process the reflected sound. If you want to call that "seeing" you'll not find many people who will disagree. I'd suggest that you simplify that contention by saying they "hear" with their ears.
No not usually. They bite cattle and other worm blooded animals. To a Vampire bat human blood is like meat to a vegetarian. They prefer animals. Plus vampire bat bites are painless! They usually only bite people if there is no other food or to protect their young. Trust me, I read every single book about bats in my library. The vampire bat feeds only on blood. It gets the blood from horses, cattle, dogs, and chicken. With its two sharp upper incisors (the front teeth) it makes a shallow hole in the skin of its victim. It then laps the blood that comes from the wound. The vampire bat saliva is made of a special liquid, it makes the blood keep flowing! Vampire bat saliva is used in medicine to keep the heart beating and the blood flowing, in your body!
==========
Vampire bats are opportunistic feeders. Normally animals are much more available than people since people tend to stay inside at night (when the bats prefer to feed). People are also much more likely to react to a bat landing on or near them than say a horse or a cow, so again, bats are much less likely to feed on them. With that said - there are plenty of accounts of people out camping in areas within the habitat area of the bats who wake up to find one has nibbled on their ear or toes or other exposed skin without them waking up.
How do you know that bats and cats can hear ultra sound?
experiments, i would think that scientist would put them in a room and emit sounds at different wave lenghs to see if they respond or if there is a change in their behaviour. but that's just a guess :) also, bats are completely blind and rely on their hearing to navigate. that's where the phrase "blind as a bat" came from.
What is the group of bats called?
Don't really understand what you mean here. Bats are mammals, and breed as such - so there's a Mother Bat, a Father bat and Baby bat. But they don't live in a strong family unit, so apart from Mother and Baby, you probably wouldn't be able to say who the father is.
