I think you are asking about the Daisy Red Ryder. The old ones had aluminum cocking levers. In 1947 Daisy stopped using metal levers because of WW!! and changed to aluminum until sometime in the mid 1950's. Plastic cocking levers on pre 1966 models had a warping problem.

For a air soft BB gun it's okay not powerful. For a regular BB gun "NO" that is not powerful at all. A Daisy Red Ryder BB rifle will fire around 325 FPS most new pellet Air Rifles will fire at least 1,000 FPS. A really good Air soft rifle will get around 500 FPS.

About every 500-1000 shots, most BB guns should get 2 drops of 20 weight oil in the hole marked OIL. You can also use 1-2 drops on the cocking lever, trigger, etc. You SHOULD read the manual. The Daisy model 102 Cub shoots a .175 BB it was made between 1952-1978

If it's still under warranty, I would send it back to Crosman. (See link below for address.) Make sure you are not pressing the release button, it's located just to the rear bottom of the trigger guard when you hold the pistol. (easy to do if you are left handed.) Make sure you have the BB magazine all the way in the handle, you will feel it click when it's all the way in.

They are similar. They both use the same power plant to fire the projectile, but here is the difference. BB are a hard projectile. They don't deform when they hit a target, so they are a poor hunting selection as a weapon. Pellets are a soft projectile and will deform when they hit a target and will make a clean kill and are more humane when hunting. BB are used for plinking and target practice. Pellets are used for plinking, target and hunting. BB are fired from a smooth bore barrel, like a tube, therefor the BB tumbles as it flies through the air making it less accurate than a pellet. Pellets are fired from a rifled bore barrel, this makes them spin as they leave the barrel. This spinning helps them fly straighter than BB's.

The Evanix rainstorm fires a .177 pellet at 1300 FPS. The Airforce Condor tops out at 1450 FPS. There are several air guns and rifles that are capable of reaching this speed. Everyone of these are in the PCP class of airguns & rifles (PreCharged Pneumatics) that require that they be pumped up to 3000 PSI to be used. So if you are looking for a powerful BB gun look at all the IZH models they hold a high record of power and speed.

If you are asking about Airsoft BB shot in a regular BB gun that shoots metal BB, then the answer is NO. Real BB guns fire at a much higher rate than most Airsoft BB guns. The plastic BB could disintegrate and become flying pieces of Plastic.

you can shoot them on private property and it depends where you are if you want to shoot it in public

and if you take it out in public and it is compleatly black i think you have to put a orange cap on the barrle

Nope. Plastic BBs are 6mm- about ,24 inches. Metal BBs are smaller- about .177 inches.
