Yes. But it's always best to read the manufacturer's instructions FIRST because SOME strongly recommend REMOVING all other blankets from on top of the bed before using the electric blanket. I know people who put blankets on top of their electric blankets and have never had a problem, but PLEASE BE SAFE and read the instructions before using.

It's hard to make a mattress from scratch. Leave that to the manufacturing companies making mattresses. But if you are feeling a little bit creative, purchase a good kind of foam. You can try mix and matching different types of foams such as memory foam and latex. After that, make your own mattress cover. But i suggest purchasing a good kind of mattress. I have a 4" pad not the entire mattress. (The full mattress has only about 4" of space-foam). It took me awhile to gte used to it, but I like it and think I sleep more soundly on it.
