Benzodiazepines differ in their effects and duration of effects. sedation, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, muscle relaxing and amnestic properties are all common. however, certain drugs are better suited for certain scenarios. Valium is very sedating and has a long half life, making withdrawal less intense. on the other end, xanax is not particularly sedating but has perhaps greater anti-anxiety properties, and a very short half life making withdrawal more difficult.

It is not a good idea to mix hydromorphone with valium. Hydromorphone is an opiate for pain and Valium is a benzodiazapine used for anxiety. Both are potenially addicting, both make you drowsy and can kill you if you fall asleep and aspirate or your respiration is depressed. Anyone considering mixing these two drugs or classes of drugs should be supervised closely be their physician.

Yes, people snort Xanax by crushing the pill and sniffing it up their nose. This is a useless way of ingesting the Xanax though, as it does not cross the mucous membranes in the nose. It is only absorbed once the drip is swallowed down the back of the throat to the stomach, just as if it were eaten normally in the first place. Benzodiazepines are NOT water soluble, therefore they will not be absorbed in the nasal mucous membranes. Just eat them.

With some time , saliva tests detection periods are short 1-3 days to 7-10. For benzodiazepines , Diazepam (Valium) is a benzodiazepine , approx. period for detection is 2-3 days . A Good way to get off of Xanax Bars is to Slowly decrease the amount that you take every 2 weeks so you wont suffer from any withdrawals.

I was taking 1mg, Four times a day for 5 Years = 4mg per day

Here is the method that worked for me:

1mg, Three times a day for 2 weeks = 3mg per day

1mg, Two times a day for 2 weeks = 2mg per day

0.5mg, Three times a day for 2 weeks = 1.5mg per day

0.5mg, Two times a day for 2 weeks = 1mg per day

NOTE: At this point, I used 0.5mg Xanax Tablets so I could break them in half to make 0.25mg pieces.

0.25mg, Three times a day for 2 weeks = 0.75mg per day

0.25mg, Two times a day for 2 weeks = 0.5mg per day

0.25mg, Once per day for 2 or 3 weeks = 0.25mg per day

At this point, I was able to stop without having any withdrawals.

I would encourage you to wean off slowly, especially with the xanax because depending on the length of time you have used it and the amount used, quitting the xanax cold turkey can cause severe withdrawel and seizures. You can stop the hydrocodone ( lortab ) cold turkey but to minimize discomfort and increase your chances of success I would recommend tapering off slowly. In other words just take a little less everyday until you are completley free of the medication. Ofcourse the best idea would be to be upfront with your doctor and see if he woukd be willing to wean you off.

Only in the sense that it is a Benzodiazepine,It is longer lasting and a lot more debilitating than Xanax. In my opinion it is more like Clobberpin (Klonazapam) than Xanax, So my answer would be no!
