Bichon Frises

No big bones that a golden retriever might chew on. Just when they're about 1 year old then start feeding them ONE kind of small dog food. Still no big bones until the age of 6. If you don't like your dog's current food, DO NOT change it until at least 1 year has passed of the old one. If you do change it's food in less than a year, your dog might get sick and not like you anymore.

They are hyperallergenic (people cant be allergic to them) because they have hair, not fur like most dogs do. But they can have allergies of their own. For example, mine is allergic to chicken. Its not life threatening or anything but it just makes her extremely itchy.

I have never heard of a bichon frise with sore ears but the ears do get hot and they get itchy. i give my bichon frise a special spray for the ears

If her nipples are getting bigger then chances are she's on heat.

You should take her into the Veterinarian to have her checked out after whelping. Did she pass all her placentas for each pup? She should not be bleeding hardly at all. Get her checked out by your Vet. Take the pups with her and have them checked out too. Keep them all warm, put some hot water bottles under the blankets of the box you carry them in. Make sure there are plenty of blankets between the pups and the hot water bottles so they don't burn their skin.

Bichon's are considered allergy-free dogs. They are the best type of dog to get if you are allergic to dogs.

Bichon Frises are not known to die earlier they are one of the healthiest breeds known to live from 18 to 20 years.

The Bichon is a fluffy, little white dog that loves human company. It has an independent spirit, is intelligent, affectionate, bold and lively. This charming, gentle dog is not a yapper. It has a self-assured, happy temperament that is easy to live with. These bright little dogs are easy to train and just plain old love everyone. They need people to be happy. They are naturally sociable and are happiest when they are part of a family that takes them everywhere. Some are prone to watery eyes, cataracts, skin and ear ailments, also epilepsy and dislocated kneecaps. They can be very sensitive to flea bites. The Bichon Frise can live in an apartment if it gets enough exercise. They are fairly active indoors and will do okay without a yard. These are active little dogs, who need a daily walk. Play will take care of a lot of their exercise needs, however, as with all breeds, play will not fulfill their primal instinct to walk. Dogs who do not get to go on daily walks are more likely to display behavior problems. They will also enjoy a good romp in a safe open area off lead, such as a large fenced in yard. This breed should be groomed frequently and bathed every month. Professional grooming is recommended every 4 weeks. Trim around the eyes and ears with a blunt pair of scissors and clean the eyes extensively to prevent staining. Show dogs are trimmed with scissors. The body of the pet dogs may be clipped with electric clippers though the rest of the dog must still be scissored. The Bichon sheds little to no hair and is good for allergy suffers. The Bichon Frise dates back as far as the 13th century. The breed is a descendent of the Barbet Water Spaniel and the Poodle. The Bichon was traded all over the world by Spanish sailors. The dog eventually became a favorite of the 16th century French royal courts. In the 19th century it was a popular organ grinder's dog and also a circus performer. Today the Bichon Frise is primarily a companion and show dog. The Bichon Frise was first recognized by the AKC in 1972.

It depends on what type of personality you are looking for, or if your question is fur, or allergy related. Golden's consistently rate as the #1 dog for families. They have a fantastic personality, and bond closely to people. They are however, HIGHLY energetic when young and need lots of exercise. They are not at all suited to being a backyard dog, so house training is important. If you have time to spend with your dog, and are looking for a companion more than "just a pet", a Golden is as close to perfect as you can find.

Check your local Golden Retriever rescue if you are ready to adopt. You can find a gorgeous pure bred Golden that has already been spayed or nuetered, and get a history on the pet's background. Often you will be able to adopt a young adult dog that is already house or crate trained, which is the most difficult part of adopting a puppy.
