What is the value ofDecca Album A- 550 Bing Crosby Merry Christmas?

As with anything, it depends on condition. At Christmas time, people try to hike this set up to big prices, the fact of the matter is it just isn't valuable. if all records are there and playable, Id say $15 would be a fair price. Ive seen much lower (i got my set for $3.00), Ive seen them up to $20 or $25 if really nice. But you have the re-issue set from '47, Which is just very common. The 1945 set is a tad more valuable and has 5 records instead of 4.

Is bing Crosby david Crosby's father?

After watching the Sunday morning show today 7/6/08 - I also wanted to know if there was a relationship to Bing..... I Googled it and found there is no relation to Bing Crosby. Following is a blurb from a website I found: "Extra credit: Crosby's nickname "Bing" grew out of his childhood interest in a comic strip titled The Bingville Bugle... He attended Gonzaga University... Crosby's theme song was The Blue of the Night... He's the brother of bandleader Bob Crosby, the father of actress Mary Crosby and the grandfather of actress Denise Crosby. Mary Crosby played Kristin Shepard, the gal who shot J.R. Ewing on the TV series Dallas; Denise Crosby played Lt. Tasha Yar on Star Trek: The Next Generation... The familiy is no relation to singer David Crosby... Bing Crosby and Bob Hope both started golf tournaments; Crosby's famous pro-am was held for many years at Pebble Beach golf club in California... Crosby was the topic of the 2001 biography A Pocketful of Dreams by author Gary Giddins."

Did Bing Crosby turn down singing Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer?

Yes he did turn it down, as did Vaughn Monroe, Dinah Shore , Perry Como etc.

Crosby thought the song too "juvenile" but it was included on his compilation,

Time Life Treasures Of Christmas Vol 2 released in 1987. Perry Como recorded

it later. Gene Autry (of French ancestry by the way) who reluctantly recorded

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer on 27th June 1949 at the urging of his wife,

Ina May 1911-1980 told his TV Host Jimmy Carter in an interview in the mid

1980's "...............I made a record that I really wasn't sold on to start with.

I didn't think it was going any place.......That was a big surprise to me because

I didn't think it was that good a song". Gene's version sold over 25 million and

continues to sing.

Happy Trails to you all
