From what i heard from the lyrics, one of them had a girlfriend or so, and "I'd rather be alone than put you on a throne." means that one of them would rather not date the person than to make them become famous. Its unknown if thats supposed to be for the good of the girl or not.... there is also more parts of the song that has different meaning, but i cant really explain it. just use your imagination and peice it together. the name Smoke and mirrors is about the obvious, their image and smoking. most expect that from a rock n roll band.
