Response to both questions - Sandra Alvarenga was the former drummer for the post-harcore/metal band Black Veil Brides (BVB) She was the drummer for their first full-length album, We Stitch These Wounds which came out on Standby Records in 2010. She has since left the band which occured do to musical style divergences. Both BVB and Sandra insist that she and members of her former band remain on good terms. Sandra is currently drumming for the band Modern Day Escape. BVB has taken on new drummer Christian "CC" Coma and he has provided the drumming for BVB's upcoming album titled, "Set the World on Fire" which is due to hit stores in June.

Andrew Biersack also known as Andy Sixx, or Andy Biersack is the legacy, the creator, and the philosopher of the black veil brides. He was born and raised in a religious roman family. Growing up, he listened to hair metal and imitated the rock gods. Later in life he came across the catholic term ''black veil brides'', which means a nun that gives everything to get married; the nun is to wear a black veil in the ceremony. He says to have given everything he has to/for the rock 'n' roll life. In 2006 he actually made the change and created the band. The songs then were weak sounding to the ones now; of course they've certainly gained their power. With the ups & downs Andy has held on. No, there is no girl in BVB. However, the most recent drummer, (before CC) was a girl. Her name was Sandra Alvarenga. She left in 2009 to become the drummer for a band called Modern Day Escape. All of the current members of Black Veil Brides (Andy, Ashley, Jinxx, Jake, CC) are male.

Andy personally gave me this answer two days ago when it was asked after a show. Andy attended a catholic school during his teen years, and his grandmother was very religious. He is extremely close to her hence the rosary he wears. Anyway, in catholic religion, when a woman gives up all her pleasures in life to be a nun, she is known as a black veil bride. Meaning that she can no longer enjoy simple 'sinful' pleasures as she has given herself to God. He thought it would be a creative name for a rock/alternative band because the meaning of a black veil bride contradicts itself with the habits of a young rock/alternative band. =]
