It depends on the type of BMW. The 1 series can go from about $30,000 - $45,000. While 3 series and 5 series can be around $40,000 - $60,000. Then there's the 6 series and 7 series, which start at $60,000 - $120,000. BMW ///M cars are just more modified versions of 1, 3, 5, and 6 series and sell for more money.

The best deals on BMWs are the CPO's, in my opinion. For example, while 3-Series's go from $30-40k new, one can be had 3 years old with 20k miles (with warranty) for about $22-30. A 25-30% saving is normal over buying new, and with the 3% financing, is the best deal. The cars are still like new.

This is due to wear. You can try changing the diff oil by removing bottom drain plug on diff. then undo the higher one and refill. You can also buy additives to remove whine worth a try.

The "EML" warning light in a BMW indicates a problem with the "drive by wire" throttle control system."

Drive by wire" throttles use a computer controlled stepper motor rather than a purely mechanical linkage (usu. metal cable attached directly to the accelerator pedal) to control the opening and closing of the throttle plate.

A flashing or solid "EML" light does not explicitly mean the throttle body is bad, but this can be the case as the throttle has many heavily used moving parts (both mechanical and electrical) with great potential to wear out and fail. The "EML" system is quite complex and service typically requires a factory trained (or exceptionally skilled mechanical & electrical) technician, with access to sophistocated diagnostic tools.

The "EML" system plays a major role in the control of the engine. An "EML" light will often be accompanied by very noticable vehicle driveability issues. Stalling, stumbling, low idle, extremely rough idle, and/or a lack of throttle response are all very common.

Depending on the year of the vehicle, a problem with the "EML" system can be difficult to diagnose, and very expensive to repair. If the throttle is determined to be the problem, it is possible a disassembly and cleaning of the throttle motor, motor brushes and sensors can help, but this is something one would have to do on their own.

Owners of earlier BMW cars may opt to retro-fit a standard mechanical linkage (cable, throttle, pedal) to their cars, but this can also be very difficult/expensive and will elminate some of the features the "EML" system provides (traction control, cruise control).

With the engine off twist the throttle and look at the the part that moves on the throttle bodies about 1 foot below the gas tank near your left knee as you are sitting on the motorcycle. Make sure the bike is fully warmed up - take it for a 10 minute ride. Aim for about 1000 rpms at idle. Loosen the lock nut and turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle and counter clockwise to lower it.
