the impulse sending wheal is a mini fly wheal based on the back of the crankshaft inside the motor it self.motor must be out and crankshaft taking off for the replacment to take place.its what communicate with the cranksensor and speed sensor and bring forth the ability to shift gears right and spark in proper timing sequence.

if the car runs like crap then you could try replacing it. see if it is faulty by unplugging it. the car should run crappier when you do this. when you plug it back in it should be happy again. you really don't need to touch the MAF unless it gets really fouled by some oil, but even then it has a heated element which will burn off the oil. get a book to your car here, only certain years: http://www.germanautoparts.com/Books/BMW. if you want to clean it out it may help but the MAFs last forever unless they've been through a hurricane or drowned in some water.

Unplug one wire from brake-light switch(s) one at a time, if the brake light goes out then the switch you just unplugged is either failed (shorted) or mal-adjusted. If you readjust it make sure the brake light comes on just after the pedal/lever leaves it's stop.

Check the fuses feeding the dashboard lights and engine ignition and immobilizer / anti-theft system.

If you find a fuse has blown - and a replacement new one blows immediately - seek advice from a car electrician who specializes in BMWs.

If no fuses have blown then there may be a faulty transponder chip in the ignition key. Try the spare key if you have one for the car.

If that key won't start the car either, there could be a fault in the car's immobilizer / anti-theft system or its wiring. Again, you may have to seek advice from a a car electrician who specializes in BMWs.

On the BMW 330ci (model years 2001 and up), one common problem is the front control arm bushings. The control arm bushing is round, about 3 inches in diameter, and sits in a metal retaining bracket, which has two bolt holes. The bushing can be seen under the vehicle, near the front tire. The central rubber portion of the bushing wears out over time, and if broken, will cause vibration and clunking or knocking noise. The bushings are usually sold as a set (one for left, one for the right) because it's best to replace both at the same time. Price range is approximately $130-160 for a set of two. Another differential diagnosis (although NOT as common a problem as the front control arm bushings) is the front CV axle assembly. A worn CV joint can cause clicking or clunking sounds especially when making a turn.
