Dinklage could not have been one of Hoss's leprechauns. He was born June 11, 1969, the Leprechaun episode was filmed in 1963.

The Cartwrights could and did ride horses. In fact, their horses became as familar to America as the Cartwright men themselves. Patriarch Ben Cartwright always rode the buckskin, appropriately named Buck. Adam, the oldest of the Cartwright sons always rode a chestnut named either Beauty or Sport. Hoss, the middle son, rode a Quarter Horse X named Chub and youngest son Little Joe always rode the flashy black and white Paint named Cochise.

This is my favorite episode, #146, original air date Dec. 22, 1963, titled 'Hoss and the Leprechans'.

Originally airing on Saturday nights, Bonanza was off to a slow start, buried under the legal genuis of Perry Mason. But when it was moved to Sundays at 9:00 pm, the Cartwrights became America's favorite family for the next 12 years of their run.

Franklin did do one episode of Bonanza, First Love, aired 1972. But she played the wife of a school teacher as an adult.

You have to be more specific, there were several judges throughout the shows 14 seasons, including one with Hoss as the judge of a baby contest.

It is possible that Teal wanted to retire since he was over 70 years old.

Little Joe is shot in the back in The Deadly Ones. It pretty much happens right at the beginning when Little Joe comes home at night on Cochise. It's one of my favorite episodes. He was also shot in the back and the leg in Bushwhacked, this is another really good episode.

Titled 'Forever', #416, season 14, original air date November 12, 1972. Michael Landon wrote the script with Hoss in mind as the unlucky bridegroom but Dan Blocker's untimely death several months earlier demanded that Landon step up instead.

It seems that the buckskin colored horse that Ben Cartwright rode in Bonanza was the same horse that was used by Marshal Matt Dillon in the series Gunsmoke.

Michael Landon did not wear a toupee. He had a full head of his own natural hair.

As a child I actually saw this horse. Along with the Buckskin and black and white Pinto ridden by Lorne Green and Michael Landon. As much as my research has been able to turn up the black horse was Quarter Horse or a Quarter cross. But this question deserves more research.

So I looked into this question and found out that all episodes of Bonanza were filmed in color except for one. The episode where a trio of escaped African American slaves found themselves on the Ponderosa in their search for freedom. they were of course welcomed with open arms and a cup of Bens bottomless pot of coffee. they origianly filmed the episode in color but upon review they realized that the African Americans skin didnt look right in color so they filmed it in black and white. Color television was in its infancy so they were still trying to figure out how to film with it correctly. That was actually one of my favorite episodes. Because of that episode I thought that all the early episodes were filmed in black and white but had later digitly remastered them and added color like they have done to some of the old black and white movies. I think it would be funny if they started selling black and white telivisions to watch the black and white episodes that they are showing now. Stranger things have happened.

Lorne Greene, Michael Landon, and Dan Blocker sang the words to the theme song in the pilot. It was so dreadful that the producers went with the instrumental version that has become iconic.

The whole cast actually sang in several episodes, even if Pernell Roberts was the only legitimate singer in the cast. They sang "Sweet Betsy From Pike" in "The Quality of Mercy," and "Come All Ye Faithful" in "Gabrielle". In addition, Pernell Roberts sang "Early One Morning" in "The Wooing of Abigail Jones". He and Robert Culp sang the title song in "Broken Ballad". In his last filmed appearance on the show, Mr. Roberts sang "Endless Road" with Hoyt Axton in "Dead and Gone".

The cast released an Bonanza themed album, in addition to albums from Michael Landon and Pernell Roberts. Lorne Greene made several albums and had a #1 hit with "Ringo," which was largely spoken.

Actor Pernell Roberts of Bonanza is dead. I believe he was not married at the time of his death in 2010.
