Climax in story AP john updike?
to me, it seemed like there wasn't a climax. well maybe finally hitting the final word of the story and it was all over. hahaa i really thought that a & p was one of the worst reads in my lit class. if anything, i guess the climax would be Sammy quitting, but it's just my opinion that people have been quitting minimum wage jobs since the day the were invented. i went through it, just like a million other people. i could have written a more interesting story about some old dude buying a loaf of bread at A & P. no offense to updike, but this one stinks!
The climax is, as the above writer stated, in the final sentence of the story. However, it is not climactic action, so much as climactic emotion that Updike is presenting in A&P. The story is not about Sammy's minimum wage job. It is not about the three wealthy, bikini-clad girls shopping for tinned herring. To some extent, it is not even about Sammy himself. A&P is at once an analysis of class relations and a coming of age story. It is necessary to understand this context to arrive at a satisfactory climax for this story.
The climax comes when Sammy realizes how hard life will be from this point forward. He isn't referring to being unemployed. Instead, he is referring to, in those few moments at the A&P, having grown up. He has come to an understanding of how the world works, and it wasn't at all like he expected. His gallant resignation on behalf of three girls he did not know didn't change anything, didn't prove any grand points. The climax is Sammy's realization of his relative insignificance in the scheme of how the world really works. In essence, the climax of A&P serves as the beginning of another, albeit untold, story. The story of Sammy living his life as a man, instead of as a boy.
Where do you find teach a man to fish quote in the Stephen covey literature?
"Give a man a fish, you feed him for the day; teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime". This is an Eastern proverbs and Covey uses this when he explains the Principles Govern concept. The point is, when you teach someone a practice, always try to teach the principle which underlies it. Because the situation may change the practice no longer applies.

What is the name of a famous work of literature that consists of five four-letter words?
"All's Well That Ends Well" By Shakespeare.
The quote "And the big brown bear came lolloping over the mountain" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang does not refer to a real book. In the story, Grandpa Pott is reading this line aloud from a fictional book within the world of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The book is not named, and the quote itself is created by Ian Fleming, the author of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as part of the dialogue.
In the film adaptation, this scene adds to the whimsical and imaginative nature of the story, but it does not reference an actual existing book. It serves more as a storytelling device to enrich the narrative and the character of Grandpa Pott.

What is the summary of the baby in the bottle?
The short story is about a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Libre, and their baby in the bottle. Their baby was just four months in the womb when Mrs. Libre had a miscarriage and the baby died. Mrs. Libre asked the doctor if she could take the baby home. The doctor allowed her since she could conceive anymore after the miscarriage and so the baby was put in a bottle submerged in alcohol. Five years have passed and Mrs. Libre was still keeping it. The baby became black, the flesh began to peel off, and its body became shrunk. And Mrs. Libre could not move on with her baby's death. That day, while Mr. Libre was at work, he remembered that the baby was already five years and seven months old. He arrived home that day to his wife looking at the baby with sad and empty eyes. He diverted his gaze to the baby and then he realized that baby was decaying slowly and no one could do anything about it. He forced a smile and tried to make sure that his tears would not fall.
The short story was really sad. The couple was pitiful, especially Mrs. Libre. She could not cope up with her baby's death, but it could be understood because she couldn't have baby anymore. The baby's death also affected their relationship and their life after the death. Their relationship became cold and their life everyday became a routine they have to follow to live. They let their baby's death control their lives. I think Mr. Libre did not really put much effort in consoling his wife. He could have helped her in moving on but he just let her mourn and ignored her, and later they did not talk anymore. He had the advantage because he had a job that where he could divert his attention while his wife was left at home mourning.
According to Mr. Libre, the baby's flesh was starting to peel off and no one could do anything about it. This means that the baby was slowly decaying, although it was soaked in alcohol so that it can be preserved but it cannot be stopped

What is the theme of canterville ghost?
The Canterville Ghost is a ghost story.
Ghost stories belong to the genre called horror literature, whose purpose is to scare the reader with situations that cause horror or fear. The most common technique is suspense, the slow insinuating of a doubt or of a frightening revelation, which keeps the reader interested.
This story can be defined an inverted ghost story, because a lot of elements are different from the traditional ones. The main difference is the fact that Mr Otis is not scared by the ghost, while usually people should be. Moreover, the Ghost itself is frightened by the Otis twins.
There is also comic relief bordering on farce, including buckets of water balanced on half-open doors. But the story has a dark centre. The crime and retribution which led to the haunting is ghastly, and this is really not a comedy at all, but a tale of redemption through the power of love. The innocent girl of the family, appropriately called Virginia, prays for the ghost and endures terrifying if unnamed experiences to release the ghost.
Also, The Canterville Ghost is both a parody of the traditional ghost story and a satire of the American way of life. Wilde obviously intends to satirize American materialism, but he pokes fun at English traditional culture as well.
American vs. British society: "The Canterville Ghost" is a study in contrasts. Wilde takes an American family, places them in a British setting, then, through a series of mishaps, pits one culture against the other. He creates stereotypical characters that represent both England and the United States, and he presents each of these characters as comical figures, satirizing both the unrefined tastes of Americans and the determination of the British to guard their traditions. Sir Simon is not a symbol of England, as perhaps Mrs. Umney is, but rather a paragon of British culture. In this sense, he stands in perfect contrast to the Otises. Sir Simon misunderstands the Otises just as they misunderstand him, and, by pitting them against each other, Wilde clearly wishes to emphasize the culture clash between England and the United States.
There are two books called Thinner. One is by Stephen King and one is by Richard Bachman.
