How do you set up a bowling league schedule for 5 teams?

League schedules can be found on the United States Bowling Congress' website at www.bowl.com. They have schedules for 4 to 48 teams.

In your situation, you would use a 6 team schedule and use a BYE team.

A bowling ball with a negative initial velocity slows down as it rolls down the lane toward the pins Is the bowling ball's acceleration positive or negative as it rolls toward the pins?

In these situations, you usually define one direction as being positive and the other as negative. In this problem, the question does this for us: it clearly tells us that when the ball is moving down the lane, its velocity is negative. "Down the lane" is the negative direction.

Average acceleration is give by

a_ave = Δv/Δt

where Δv is a change in velocity and Δt is elapsed time.

Δv = v_final - v_initial

In this problem, the ball "slowed down," but did not change direction. This means that the NUMBER associated with "v" got smaller (5 ... 4 ... 3 ...) but the SIGN (-) did not change.

I hope it makes sense, then, that "v_final" was a smaller (slower) number with a negative sign (moving down the lane) while "v_initial" was a larger (faster) number with a negative sign (moving down the lane).

The subtraction of a large negative number from a small one (like, for instance, -4 - [-10]) is a POSITIVE number whose value is given by the difference (+6).

So Δv is positive, and Δt is ALWAYS positive (no matter what).
Therefore a_ave, the quotient of two positive numbers, will be positive.

Which bowler threw the first googly ball?

As according to the article on cricinfo "In the land of googly" by "Sriram Veera"

Bernard Bosanquet, bowled the legendary Victor Trumper off the very first googly bowled in Australia, in March 1903 but could not quite control his creation. That was left to the South Africa's spinners.

Reggie Schwarz, a batsman who bowled medium pace, played alongside Bosanquet in the Middlesex team. Schwarz was fascinated by the "Bosie" and took a keen interest in the Englishman's experiments with this strange weapon. However, at the end of 1901 season he emigrated to South Africa. Schwarz got a chance in 1904 to renew his friendship with Bosanquet and his creation when he was selected to play for South Africa on the tour of England. He ran into the wiles of Bosanquet in the very first match of the tour, where Bosanquet picked up nine wickets for MCC. That art is truly international was proved when the eager disciple, Schwarz, found a willing guru in Bosanquet, who passed on the secrets of the wrong'un. By the time the fourth match began, against Oxford, Reggie was amusing his team-mates by practising the delivery in the nets. To their amazement, in the second innings, he grabbed five wickets for 27 runs in seven overs. By the end of the tour he had gone on to top the bowling averages, taking 96 bewildered victims at 14.81.

What is the relationship between virtual bowling and real bowling?

Bowling games on the computer dont help you at all in real life, but if your playing on the Wii it can help you to improve.

Last statement is up to debate so I wont delete it.

When you bowl in real life, there are a lot more factors that are taken into consideration such as the surface friction of the bowling ball, the weight, the cover stock, the friction on the lane or oil pattern, your ball speed, your desired path vs the one you ACTUALLY hit, and most importantly pin carry. Virtual bowling will probably never reach a level of being realistic for the sheer fact that the angle that your ball hits the pocket, with a specific amount of kinetic energy, affects the way the pins fall, and ultimately determines which ones are still standing. Another key difference is that the physical approach is completely different from person to person and is a huge factor in how well you score.
Its actually very hard to understand all this unless you have a coach and/or you dedicate your life to it or you are a physicist that studies bowling.
Feel free to google all those terms.

A ten-pin bowling ball has a volume of about 5274 cm cubed A candlepin bowling ball has a volume of about 48 inches cubed Which has the greatest volume?

I suggest that a candlepin bowling ball cannot have a volume of 48 inches cubed since that is huge.

48 inches cubed = 48"*48"*48" = (48*2.54cm)*(48*2.54cm)*(48*2.54cm) >120*120*120cm3 = 1 728 000 cm3 which is more than 300 times larger than the 5274 cm cubed ball.

Where would you aim to pick up the 1-2-4-9 spare?

you should basically be aiming the same as you would for your strike shot. but because of the 9 pin you might do a bit better if you hit the head pin on the right side a bit. so stand where you would for the strike shot and move over 1 (maybe 2, but most likely 1) board to your left and give it a try.
