Buddhism - consequences of breaking rules?
Buddhism has several levels of precepts.
The basic precepts of Buddhism are 5, for lay people who do not wish to put a high priority on spiritual development but wish to be good people who live worldly lives focused on money and family concerns.
The five precepts are:
1 to abstain from taking life
2. to abstain from taking what is not given (to not steal)
3. to abstain from sexual misconduct (not to harm others through sex by forcing them or cheating)
4. to not say what isn't true (to not tell a lie)
5. to abstain from intoxicants (to not eat or drink anything that clouds and confuses the mind.
There are karmic consequences to breaking the precepts. These are common sense in that it is basically an "eye for an eye" kind of situation.
The consequence of killing is a short life, the consequence of stealing is poverty, the consequence of sexual misconduct is unhappy relationships because no one will trust you, the consequence of lying is that no one will listen to you, and the consequence of intoxicants is ignorance.
Hope this helps. You can find a lot of this online

Lumbini is also one of the UNESCO world heritage site in Nepal. http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/666/. Every historical and archaeological proofs clearly mention the True location of Lumbini in Nepal and that is not all all in India. Why is chanting important to Buddhism?
Many Buddhists can go their entire lives without ever seeing, let along using, a singing bowl. The implication from this is that the singing bowls are not all that important to all Buddhists.
However many Buddhists meditate and some of these use the singing bowl as a source of white noise to block out other interfering sounds.
A smaller group see the bowls as "mystic" instruments to help them reach higher levels of insight.
A smaller group (again) sees the vibrations of the bowls as a magical medicine. This group includes both Buddhists and new agers. This group claims the bowls are tuned to the various chakras and focus energies towards these centers.
What was the main believe idea of Buddhism?
Sometimes when I'm asked to describe the Buddhist teachings, I say this:
(1) Everything is connected;
(2) Nothing lasts;
(3) You are not alone.
These first three are really just a restatement of the traditional Three
Marks of Existence: non-self, impermanence, and suffering. The fact
that we all suffer means we are all in the same boat, and that's what
allows us to feel compassion.
(4) Life is full of suffering
(5) Suffering exists because of our desires and aversions.
(6) There is a state of mind in which suffering ends (enlightenment).
(7) There is a path to attain this state; That path is called the Eight Fold Path.
Items 4 - 7 are the Four Noble Truths.
(8) Bodichitta (Loving- Kindness / Compassion) is the first step to
enlightenment (and to solving the world's problems)
(9) The 5 Precepts concisely describe a moral life
The 5 precepts are: (1) not to take the life of any sentient being, (2) not
to take anything not freely given, (3) to abstain from sexual
misconduct and sensual overindulgence, to (4) refrain from untrue
speech, and (5) to avoid intoxication, that is, losing mindfulness.
(10) Mindfulness of thoughts and actions are the key to wisdom and therefore
to the path of enlightenment.
The goal of Buddhism is to attain enlightenment and thus the opportunity to be freed from pains with the potential, if the choose, to enter Nirvana.
the birthplace of Buddhism is in the Himalayan mountains in India.

In its earliest days the appeal was in the simple clarity of the insight into human nature that was at the heart of the teaching, an insight that any individual could learn about and work on seeing for themselves -- as opposed to the sometimes arcane and secretive practices of the Brahmins of the time who kept the meaning behind of their practices to themselves. Another reason Buddhism was popular was because it was a moderate practice -- called "The Middle Way" because it avoided the extremes of overindulgence and ascetism that were some alternatives at the time.
