It is the RHCP's version (I believe) that is played for the commercial but it wasn't Michael McDonald that did it first, Stevie Wonder sang it first and was the writer of the song. At the end of the episode, the homeowner either sold or gifted the gun to the moron, who gave it to Michael as payment. Finally, Michael gave it to Fiona as a special gift
